About the role
The Nuclear Company is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Director, Power Marketing to lead the origination, structuring, and execution of complex power offtake transactions that support the development and financing of our nuclear generation portfolio. This role will be responsible for developing and executing power marketing strategies across a range of customer segments, including utilities, hyper-scalers, data center operators, and large commercial and industrial (C&I) energy users.
The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated track record of closing large, complex energy transactions and significant experience structuring and negotiating power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other long-term energy offtake arrangements. The Director will work closely with development, finance, and executive leadership teams to align commercial opportunities with project development and capital formation objectives.
Responsibilities
Power Offtake Origination & Commercial Strategy
- Lead the origination, negotiation, structuring, and execution of power offtake agreements supporting The Nuclear Company’s development pipeline.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies for both regulated and competitive power markets.
- Structure innovative energy products and commercial arrangements across utility-scale and behind-the-meter applications.
- Evaluate evolving market opportunities and customer requirements to maximize project value and revenue certainty.
Customer & Market Development
- Serve as the primary commercial relationship owner for strategic power purchasers, including:
- Hyperscalers and data center developers
- Investor-owned and public utilities
- Large commercial and industrial energy users
- Emerging clean energy buyers
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key stakeholders across the energy ecosystem.
- Identify new market opportunities and develop pathways for long-term commercial partnerships.
Deal Structuring & Transaction Execution
- Lead the development and negotiation of PPAs, energy services agreements, capacity arrangements, and other complex power transactions.
- Coordinate internal and external advisors to advance transactions from initial engagement through execution.
- Manage commercial due diligence and risk allocation across counterparties, regulatory frameworks, and project structures.
- Support pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and commercial approvals.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with the Development team to inform site selection, customer targeting, utility engagement, and regional market strategy.
- Collaborate with Finance and Capital Markets teams to ensure offtake structures support project financing and investment objectives.
- Provide market intelligence and commercial insights to executive leadership regarding customer demand, competitive dynamics, and emerging trends.
- Support strategic partnerships that enhance project bankability and long-term value creation.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in energy marketing, business development, power origination, energy trading, project development, or related commercial roles.
- Demonstrated success leading and closing large, complex energy transactions.
- Direct experience originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing power purchase agreements (PPAs) or similar energy offtake agreements.
- Deep understanding of wholesale power markets, utility procurement processes, and commercial energy contracting.
- Strong financial, analytical, and commercial negotiation skills.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with senior executives and key external stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Proven ownership of PPA structuring and execution at an independent power producer, energy developer, utility, or renewable/nuclear energy company.
- Experience working with hyperscalers, data center developers, or large-scale C&I customers.
- Knowledge of regulated and deregulated electricity markets across North America.
- Experience supporting project finance transactions and capital formation efforts.

Estimated Starting Salary Range
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $178,000 - $204,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
