About the role
The Head of IT is responsible for defining and executing The Nuclear Company's technology strategy and ensuring the secure, reliable, and scalable operation of all corporate technology services. This role provides leadership across infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and end-user technology while partnering with business leaders to enable growth, improve operational efficiency, and support the company's long-term objectives. The Head of IT serves as the senior technology leader for the organization, balancing strategic planning, operational excellence, and technology innovation.
Responsibilities
IT Strategy & Governance
- Develop and execute the company's IT strategy and roadmap.
- Establish technology standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Align technology investments with business priorities and growth objectives.
Infrastructure & Operations
- Lead the management of cloud platforms, networks, servers, endpoints, and collaboration technologies.
- Ensure the availability, performance, security, and scalability of enterprise technology services.
- Oversee disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational support functions.
Enterprise Systems
- Oversee corporate applications and business systems.
- Drive system integration, automation, and process improvements.
- Partner with business leaders to identify and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Evaluate and drive the adoption of AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation across the enterprise to improve operational efficiency, enhance decision-making, and reduce manual workloads — identifying high-value use cases in areas such as IT operations, cybersecurity, and business process automationn
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Maintain enterprise cybersecurity programs, controls, and monitoring capabilities.
- Lead risk management, incident response, and security operations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, contractual, and corporate requirements.
Vendor & Financial Management
- Manage IT budgets, contracts, and technology vendors.
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions that balance cost, performance, and business value.
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in information technology, including responsibility for enterprise infrastructure, business systems, cybersecurity, and IT operations.
- Proven success developing and executing technology strategies that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and business objectives.
- Experience leading cloud, infrastructure, enterprise applications, and cybersecurity programs within a mid-sized or large organization.
- Demonstrated experience building, leading, and developing high-performing IT teams.
- Experience managing technology budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic technology investments.
- Strong understanding of IT governance, cybersecurity, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Experience leading technology modernization, digital transformation, systems integration, or organizational change initiatives.
- Ability to evaluate, implement, and support technologies that improve business performance, efficiency, and scalability.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in engineering, construction, energy, manufacturing, industrial, or other asset-intensive industries is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, ITIL, cloud platform, or cybersecurity certifications are preferred.
- Experience evaluating and implementing AI/ML-driven solutions for IT operations, cybersecurity, or enterprise automation — with the ability to assess emerging technologies for business value, feasibility, and risk in a regulated environment
- Track record of developing enterprise AI governance policies and responsible AI adoption frameworks that balance innovation with security, compliance, and data privacy requirements

Estimated Starting Salary Range
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $220,000 - $255,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
