TNC FieldWorks, the union field services division of The Nuclear Company, supports America’s existing nuclear fleet and the broader energy industry by delivering specialized maintenance, outage execution, technical expertise, and workforce solutions through a union craft delivery model. FieldWorks is built specifically to plan, mobilize, and execute work in union labor environments, combining experienced nuclear and energy leadership with deep technical expertise, workforce planning, labor coordination, and field execution capabilities.

Through strong partnerships with customers and union halls, FieldWorks develops and deploys highly skilled craft and specialty technical talent for complex maintenance, outage, and project-based work. Our focus extends beyond providing labor, we build trusted, high-performing crews with the technical capability, training, and leadership required to safely and successfully execute critical work across nuclear, power generation, and energy-adjacent markets.

About the role

The Lead, Electrical FieldWorks serves as the on-site technical authority for electrical and I&C work during outages, maintenance activities, and specialty projects across nuclear, power generation, and energy-adjacent markets.

Working closely with the Manager, Electrical FieldWorks, customers, and union craft personnel, this role provides day-to-day technical direction and field oversight to electricians and I&C technicians, reviews work packages and technical documentation prior to execution, and helps ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with quality, customer, and regulatory requirements. The Electrical Lead also serves as a trusted technical resource and mentor in the field, helping develop craft capability, strengthen technical performance, and build high-performing crews.

 

Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Technical Oversight

  • Serve as the on-site technical authority for electrical and I&C activities during outages, maintenance projects, and specialty field work.
  • Provide day-to-day technical direction and field oversight to union electricians, I&C technicians, and specialty technical personnel in accordance with established union work practices.
  • Review work packages, procedures, electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, technical specifications, and other documentation prior to execution to support field readiness.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with customers, FieldWorks leadership, and craft teams to support safe, efficient execution and alignment with project schedules and priorities.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight to support craft-led troubleshooting and resolution of complex electrical and I&C issues, while operating within established union work practices.
  • Monitor field execution and workmanship to ensure compliance with customer requirements, plant procedures, quality standards, applicable electrical codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify emerging technical, quality, safety, or execution issues and coordinate appropriate resolution with FieldWorks leadership and customer stakeholders.
  • Maintain required field, inspection, technical, and quality documentation.

Crew & Technical Capability Development

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentorship to union electricians, I&C technicians, and specialty technical personnel.
  • Mentor and develop junior craft and technical personnel, reinforcing technical standards, quality expectations, safe work practices, and field execution fundamentals.
  • Assess crew capabilities and identify technical skill gaps, training needs, and specialty expertise required to strengthen field performance.
  • Partner with FieldWorks leadership and Training to support technical training, qualification, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Identify high-performing craft professionals, emerging field leaders, and specialty subject matter experts who can support future FieldWorks opportunities.
  • Capture field feedback and lessons learned to continuously improve crew readiness, technical development, and future project execution.

Customer, Union & Field Partnerships

  • Serve as a professional and technically credible FieldWorks representative at customer sites, building trust with plant leadership, field stakeholders, union personnel, and craft teams.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with union craft personnel and representatives while supporting effective workforce coordination and adherence to established union work practices.
  • Communicate project status, technical considerations, field issues, and workforce needs to customers and FieldWorks leadership.
  • Participate in outage planning, pre-job readiness reviews, customer meetings, site reviews, and technical discussions as required.
  • Partner with the Manager, Electrical FieldWorks to strengthen field execution, crew capability, and the overall technical performance of the Electrical FieldWorks organization.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Plant Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience supporting electrical and/or I&C maintenance, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or outage execution within nuclear, power generation, energy, or other heavy industrial environments.
  • Completion of a formal electrical or I&C apprenticeship or advanced craft training program, with preference for candidates who have progressed through a recognized union apprenticeship and qualification pathway.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and field oversight to union electricians, I&C technicians, and other technical craft personnel during complex maintenance, outage, or project work.
  • Deep technical expertise in one or more electrical or I&C disciplines, with the experience and credibility to serve as the on-site technical authority for customers, craft personnel, and field leadership.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems and equipment, including power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, motors, generators, protective relays, motor control centers (MCCs), industrial controls, and associated instrumentation and controls.
  • Demonstrated expertise reviewing and interpreting electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, work packages, procedures, technical specifications, and OEM documentation to support safe and successful field execution.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic knowledge with the ability to provide technical oversight and guidance for craft-led troubleshooting of complex electrical and I&C equipment and system issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, teach, and mentor craft personnel and junior technical professionals, reinforcing technical standards and developing workforce capability.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safe work practices and applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and plant-specific requirements.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills, with the professionalism and technical credibility to work effectively with plant leadership, engineering, union personnel, and field teams.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel extensively (50%+) and support extended outage and project assignments.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience supporting commercial nuclear power plants and scheduled outage execution.
  • Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, or other relevant electrical or I&C certification.
  • Advanced experience in one or more specialty areas such as electrical testing, protective relaying, power distribution, commissioning, instrumentation and controls, or electrical diagnostics.
  • Experience working with NETA testing practices and electrical test equipment in nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience supporting or developing technical training, qualification, apprenticeship, or workforce development programs.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing electricians, I&C technicians, technical specialists, or emerging field leaders.
  • Familiarity with NETA, IEEE, NFPA 70E, NEC, EPRI, and other applicable electrical and nuclear industry standards.

 

Work Environment & Travel

  • Primarily field- and customer-site-based, with significant time spent at nuclear power plants, power generation facilities, and other energy project sites providing technical oversight and supporting field execution.
  • Frequent travel is required, including extended assignments at customer sites during planned outages, maintenance activities, and specialty projects.
  • Must be available to work extended hours, shifts, nights, weekends, or holidays as required to support outage and project schedules.
  • Work requires regular presence in active industrial and radiological environments, including areas with electrical hazards, elevated work areas, confined spaces, and other plant conditions; strict adherence to PPE, electrical safe work practices, safety procedures, and quality standards is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization for commercial nuclear power plants, as required.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and navigate industrial plant environments for extended periods and meet applicable site-specific physical requirements.

Estimated Starting Pay Range

The estimated starting pay range for this hourly role is $45–$50 per hour when working remotely/from home and $52–$62 per hour when supporting field assignments. This role is eligible for overtime pay in both remote and field assignments.

Actual pay rates may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
