Director, Brand Marketing and Public Relations

Location: Hybrid (HQ in Cerritos, Ca with partial remote permitted)
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Director of Marketing and Public Relations will lead all efforts related to internal and external marketing and communications, public relations, as well as market intelligence to support new product development and the execution of a progressive marketing strategy that drives profitable growth. This role will lead a growing and high performing team as well as manage several key vendor relationships to identify trends for new or changing products, services, programs, and campaigns while developing strategies to implement across multiple marketing channels that create patient and customer demand and satisfaction with The Oncology Institute’s care delivery model.

- Tell TOI’s story to patients, teammates, and external stakeholders by developing a consistent brand and message across clinics, corporate offices, through internal and external communications.
- Optimize communications with referring providers and partners (health plans and medical groups) to ensure TOI’s value is communicated clearly and drives encounter volume on key relationships.
- Identify and develop plans that holistically address highest-impact areas along the customer & patient journey to improve the overall experience including developing a success process to upgrade and standardize onboarding, education, and retention.
- Lead all digital, social media, and out-of-home marketing efforts to improve TOI’s visibility to customers, patients, and prospective talent in non-print media channels.
- Provide overall guidance and mentoring to the marketing team and key marketing and PR vendors as they execute on the strategic plan.
- Provide the vision, planning, and execution of marketing strategies, including maximizing revenue attainment, market research, competitive analysis, go-to-market tools, customer segment selection, and penetration plans.
- Partner with TOI’s external PR vendor to oversee all external communications related to TOI’s growth, notable achievements, and performance as a public company.
- Continuously evaluate and evolve our brand position and marketing strategies to meet changing market and competitive conditions, including analysis and market research.
- Conduct marketing studies to determine customer requirements, technology trends, innovations, and competitive information.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive success/failures, customer satisfaction and develop reporting and metrics to share key findings.
- Oversee TOI participation in all key industry meetings and events in partnership with clinical, operations and talent leadership.
- Enhance effectiveness and efficiency through technology, support systems, marketing software, customer and sales success platforms.
- Support oversight and development of annual marketing budget, and manage marketing and vendor spend to perform at or ahead of budget each year.
- May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Brand Marketing, Marketing or Advertising required (Master’s degree preferred), or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in branding, media coordination and analysis, developing and managing marketing plans, database marketing, merchandising, and creative services required.
- Experience assessing and prioritizing business opportunities to determine which provide the best leverage required.
- Management experience in a competitive geographically dispersed business required.
- Strong business operations and the ability to bring a macro perspective to business are required.
- Health care and public company experience strongly preferred.

- Approximately 25% overnight travel required for conferences, key meetings, and clinic-based branding work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office environment. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee will primarily work in a typical office environment including use of cubicles, computers and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, data base management, email, and the Internet. The employee is frequently required to use a calculator, fax, copy machine, and phone system.
