Role Purpose:
The Safety Manager – Maintenance & Operations is responsible for overseeing workplace safety within high-volume e-commerce fulfillment and distribution centers. This role focuses heavily on maintenance activities, equipment safety, contractor oversight, and operational risk management, supporting 24/7 operations in a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead safety programs for maintenance and operational teams within e-commerce fulfillment centers
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry)
- Oversee safety related to:
- Preventive and reactive maintenance
- Conveyor systems, automation, robotics, and material handling equipment
- Electrical safety, LOTO, machine guarding, and confined spaces
- Develop and enforce LOTO programs and energy control procedures
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and behavioral safety observations
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and equipment-related injuries
- Partner with Maintenance Managers, Reliability Engineers, and Operations Leaders
- Manage contractor and vendor safety performance
- Deliver safety training, onboarding, and refresher programs
- Analyze injury trends and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and safety technology deployment
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of EHS experience in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, or e-commerce
- OSHA 30 (General Industry)
- Strong knowledge of maintenance safety and machine guarding
- Experience working in automated or highly mechanized facilities
- Data-driven approach to safety performance improvement
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, metrics-driven environments
- Ability to work on the floor in active fulfillment centers
- Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and elevated platforms
- May require nights, weekends, or on-call support
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
- CSP, ASP, or equivalent
- CMSE or machine safety certification
- First Aid / CPR / AED
The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, education, and qualifications.
Pay Range
$105,000 - $110,000 USD
