Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and service-oriented Front-End Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy operations team. This role is essential to ensuring efficient prescription processing, patient communication, and front-end pharmacy operations within a mail-order pharmacy setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail pharmacy, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer care.

Prescription Processing and Customer Support

Receive and verify incoming prescriptions for completeness and accuracy.
Enter patient and prescription data accurately into the pharmacy software system.
Assist pharmacists in prescription review by preparing required documentation and ensuring patient profiles are up to date.
Handle incoming phone calls, voicemails, and emails regarding refills, order status, and general inquiries.
Communicate directly with patients and healthcare providers to resolve non-clinical issues and prescription discrepancies.
Work closely with pharmacists to ensure prescriptions are processed and filled in a timely and compliant manner.

Customer Service

Deliver exceptional phone-based customer service, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Provide clear and courteous communication to patients regarding their medications, insurance details, and pharmacy policies.
Assist patients with questions related to prescription orders, delivery schedules, and payment processes.
Ensure patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all interactions.

Pharmacy Operations

Maintain accurate and organized electronic records of patient communications and prescription history.
Support prescription verification, processing, and packaging workflows.
Collaborate with other technicians and pharmacists to streamline daily operations and ensure prescription accuracy.
Perform clerical duties including filing, scanning, and updating pharmacy documentation.
Follow all federal and state pharmacy regulations and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Documentation & Compliance

Accurately document all prescription-related activities in accordance with pharmacy policy and regulatory requirements.
Assist in maintaining compliance with all local, state, and federal pharmacy laws.
Ensure all patient data is recorded accurately and maintained in compliance with privacy regulations.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with pharmacists, technicians, and support staff to ensure smooth workflow and accurate prescription processing.
Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues and improve customer satisfaction.
Participate in internal training sessions and operational improvement initiatives.
Mentor and assist newer team members in mastering front-end processes.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Valid and active Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
3–5 years of experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Proficient in pharmacy software and prescription data entry.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of HIPAA and pharmacy confidentiality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a mail-order pharmacy or high-volume pharmacy operation is a plus.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
Familiarity with insurance verification and claims processing.
Experience using pharmacy software systems such as PioneerRx, QS/1, or equivalent.

Environment and Physical Demands

Office-based and mail-order pharmacy environment.
Requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
Must be able to communicate clearly via telephone and email.
Occasional lifting (up to 15 pounds) for order packaging and organization.
Ability to maintain focus and accuracy during repetitive tasks and high-volume processing.

 

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday during normal office hours, 100% on-site in Miami Gardens.

Pay Range

$19 - $21 USD
