Accounting Manager

This role can be located anywhere in the continental United States and will function as a key member of our national finance team, ensuring the organization's financial health and compliance. The ideal candidate will excel at identifying and implementing process improvements within established systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Develop and maintain accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including board members, donors, and grantors
- Oversee grant accounting, including tracking grant expenditures and preparing financial reports for grantors
- General Ledger & Accounting Operations:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records
- Ensure proper coding and allocation of expenses
- Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure compliance with regulations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws, including Form 990 preparation and filing
- Assist with annual audits and reviews, providing necessary documentation and support
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget
- Provide support for financial forecasting and planning
- Technology & Systems:
- Utilize and optimize accounting software (e.g., Rippling, NetSuite, etc.) and other financial systems
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Integrity, attention to detail, and aptitude for strong problem-solving
- Facility communicating with executives and leadership
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Availability to meet all accounting deadlines
- Willingness to travel 1-2 times per year if needed
PREFERENCES

SALARY AND BENEFITS
- $92,200 - $101,100 annually
