Virtual Volunteer Coordinator
The Virtual Volunteer Coordinator will coordinate the full life cycle of virtual volunteer engagement, from recruitment and onboarding to coaching and development. This role will be responsible for activating, engaging, and supporting virtual volunteers (i.e. volunteers who lead our virtual events), ensuring alignment with Phoenix’s mission and goals. This position will collaborate closely with our Virtual Volunteer Manager as well as the program operations team to ensure virtual volunteer initiatives are well-resourced and that virtual volunteers are effectively trained and supported in an online environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Virtual Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding
- Recruitment: Develop and implement virtual volunteer recruitment strategies to attract committed and passionate individuals, ensuring diversity and alignment with program goals.
- Onboarding: Oversee the remote onboarding process for new virtual volunteers, including conducting virtual launch chats, providing digital onboarding materials, and leading online training sessions to help virtual volunteers understand Phoenix’s mission, values, and event guidelines.
- Partnership Engagement: Engage and activate partners around volunteer recruitment and team member referrals. Connect relevant opportunities to the Marketplace Ops team as needed.
Ongoing Support and Coaching
- Virtual Volunteer Support: Provide continuous support and coaching for virtual volunteers through digital communication channels, ensuring they feel engaged, valued, and prepared for their roles.
- Coaching Virtual Volunteer Leaders: Develop and coordinate virtual volunteer leadership programs to build program capacity. Work closely with virtual volunteer leaders to ensure they are well-supported in leading virtual events and mentoring other virtual volunteers.
- Event Quality Control: Ensure high-quality standards for virtual events by collaborating with volunteer leaders, troubleshooting technical challenges, and addressing participant needs.
Remote Collaboration and Communication
- Liaison with MEAL and Program Teams: Serve as the primary point of contact between the virtual volunteer team and the program operations team, ensuring alignment on training, compliance, and digital event metrics.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Communicate regularly with the volunteer services team to identify remote training needs and integrate digital learning resources into the volunteer lifecycle.
Innovation in Program Models & Audiences
- Launch strategic projects to test new program models. Validate experiments and roll out promising initiatives that can scale. This may include hybrid events, webinars, use of new platforms, and more.
- Develop program experiments into successful programs. Build projects into pillars of the virtual program services while allowing expanded options for virtual volunteers to drive impact.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Leadership and Coaching: Strong ability to lead and mentor virtual volunteer leaders, fostering a cohesive remote volunteer community.
- Digital Program and Event Coordination: Proficiency in planning, coordinating, and hosting virtual events, with a strong understanding of remote volunteer needs and logistics.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with digital collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams), volunteer management software, and online learning platforms.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to track, analyze, and report on virtual volunteer metrics to enhance program effectiveness.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage virtual volunteers and collaborate with remote teams.
- Problem-Solving: Adaptability to address challenges in a dynamic, remote environment and implement solutions effectively.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
- $54,000 - $63,000 annually (please be aware that most offers fall below the top of the range and are based on a variety of factors such as relevant experience and qualifications, internal equity among the team, and market indicators)
