INTERVENTIONIST / CRISIS RESPONDER
The Interventionist/Crisis Responder is a floating direct care role responsible for providing real-time crisis support across Ridge RTC's residential milieu. This position is specifically designed to absorb crisis response demands so that dorm staff can remain present with and focused on guiding their group through the structured program day. The Interventionist responds to acute behavioral incidents, elopements, and escalating situations campus-wide, serving as a mobile resource available wherever the need is greatest at any given moment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Crisis Response & Incident Management
- Serve as the primary responder to acute behavioral crises across all dorm programs.
- Respond to elopements, including initiating and coordinating search protocols, communicating with supervisory and clinical staff, and completing required documentation
- Provide on-the-spot de-escalation using trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches (DBT, CBT frameworks)
- Maintain a visible, calm, and regulated presence during milieu-wide periods of heightened acuity
- Implement physical intervention techniques in accordance with CPI protocols when needed as a last resort?
Floating Support & Coverage
- Float across the campus throughout each shift, monitoring milieu climate and proactively identifying escalation risk before crises occur
- Relieve dorm staff of individual client interventions so the larger group remains on schedule and program integrity is maintained
- Provide temporary 1:1 supervision support as directed by supervisory staff
- Assist with safe transport of clients within campus as needed during high-acuity situations
Documentation & Communication
- Complete timely, accurate incident reports in EMR following all events requiring documentation
- Communicate with the on-duty Program Supervisor and Clinical staff immediately following any significant incident
- Participate in shift handoff briefings to relay crisis history and current milieu status
- Support NH DHHS reportable incident documentation processes as directed by leadership
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with the Program Director, clinical team, and nursing/med suite staff to ensure coordinated response to complex client presentations
- Contribute to a culture of psychological safety for both clients and staff by modeling regulated, professional crisis response
- Participate in ongoing CPI and de-escalation training and refreshers
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 year of experience working with adolescents or young adults in a residential, therapeutic, or behavioral health setting
- Ability to complete CPI certification upon hire (or currently certified)
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to respond quickly across a large campus environment
- Ability to remain calm, grounded, and clinically focused under pressure
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- Experience in a residential treatment center or similar congregate care setting
- Familiarity with DBT, trauma-informed care, or behavioral management frameworks
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a physically active, high-responsibility role. The Interventionist operates across Ridge RTC's 350-acre campus in all weather conditions and must be prepared to respond to unpredictable, rapidly evolving situations. Shift availability including evenings, weekends, and overnights may be required based on program needs.
Salary Range
$23 - $25 USD
