Your Opportunity

Scion is paving a path in student living and we’re seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join us in executing our vision.  

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to lead the development, deployment, and optimization of predictive models while driving MLOps practices in a production-grade environment. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable machine learning pipelines, ensuring models perform consistently in production, and mentoring junior team members. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly Product Engineering and Revenue Management, to integrate models and insights into business-critical platforms and decision-making processes.

This role is full-time on-site based out of our central office in Chicago, IL.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, deployment, and monitoring of machine learning models in production environments, ensuring scalability, stability, and performance.
  • Design and implement predictive models and algorithms, ensuring they align with business objectives and generate actionable insights.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and best practices in ML Ops and model deployment.
  • Partner with the Product Engineering team to integrate models and predictions into our proprietary business intelligence platform. Work closely with the Revenue Management team to implement insights that optimize business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data science.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, and programming languages like Python or R.
  • Experience with big data technologies and tools such as Snowflake, Amazon, Databricks, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and other similar tools.

  • Job location is based at Scion headquarters in Chicago, IL
  • Working hours are general daytime business hours.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $143,000-$153,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
