Your Opportunity
Scion is paving a path in student living, and we’re seeking a Business Operations Analyst to help us execute our vision through data, strategy, and operational excellence. As a key member of the Business Operations team, you’ll support companywide initiatives, analyze performance, and help connect people, processes, and tools to ensure our property teams can deliver exceptional resident experiences. This role is ideal for a resourceful, detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment. You’ll work cross-functionally with teams such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Business Intelligence & Data, Property Operations, and Systems—translating insights into action and helping drive operational consistency across the portfolio. The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and thrives on solving complex problems. You’ll bring a strong understanding of data, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. This is an in-office position based at our Chicago headquarters. For FLSA purposes, this position is exempt.
Your Responsibilities
- Analyze operational and financial performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, with a focus on Turnover (Turn) period and assigned initiatives.
- Collaborate with FP&A and Property Operations to evaluate Turn spend and overall efficiency.
- Support company-wide initiatives, acquisitions, and process rollouts; track success using dashboards and KPIs.
- Build and maintain automated reports, dashboards, and decision-support tools. • Translate data into clear insights and presentations for internal stakeholders, including senior and executive leadership.
- Partner with Systems and BI teams to ensure data integrity and optimize reporting infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and contribute to SOP documentation.
- Conduct research, audits, and ad hoc analyses for internal teams.
- Maintain operational abstracts, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Develop presentations and detailed financial analysis results in a well-defined format.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, Business, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in real estate, operations, financial analysis, or asset management; student housing and turn period experience preferred
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) and proficiency in business intelligence tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI)
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating presentations in PowerPoint
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
- Highly collaborative and proactive, with experience working cross-functionally and with external partners
- Familiarity with Entrata or ClickUp is a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 15% as needed (company-paid)
Operational Details
- Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.
- Working hours consist of daytime business hours, requiring additional non-traditional hours during peak times.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000-$95,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
