Your Opportunity
The Director of Communication leads the development and execution of communication strategies that strengthen the company’s brand, protect its reputation, and support organizational priorities. This role partners closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver compelling external and internal messaging, oversee media relations, and manage key corporate events.. The Director serves as both a strategist and hands-on practitioner, ensuring all communications reflect the company’s mission, values, and voice.
Your Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement corporate communications strategies that support business objectives and enhance brand reputation.
- Serve as an advisor to senior leaders on messaging, media positioning, and stakeholder communications.
- Oversee communication between the company’s leaderships and employees through channels like memos, newsletters and website content.
Corporate & Brand Communications
- Lead the creation, review, and distribution of press releases, corporate statements, executive speeches, and external announcements.
- Ensure consistent tone, voice, and branding across all corporate communication channels.
- Manage media relations, cultivating relationships with journalists and industry influencers.
Event Leadership
- Assist in messaging, agenda, and production for, annual summit, leadership meetings, and other organization events.
- Partner with internal teams to ensure flawless execution of logistics, scripts, talking points, and follow-up communications.
Measurement & Reporting
- Define KPIs for communication initiatives and track performance against goals.
- Deliver regular reporting on media coverage, sentiment, and audience engagement to the Director and senior leadership.
What We Require
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
- 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate communications, brand communications, or public relations.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing communication strategies.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working directly with senior executives and media outlets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with media monitoring and analytics tools.
Operational Details
- Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.
- Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours with occasional evening hours
The base salary range for this full-time position is base + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
Illinois Pay Range
$115,000 - $125,000 USD
