Director of Retention Marketing

New York, NY

About Us

The human brain is the most complex object in the universe, yet society has accepted one-size-fits all approaches to cognition. The “solutions” (think coffee, energy drinks, and even a friend’s rx) were mediocre at best and frankly, made no sense to us. So, we created Thesis, the world’s first customized nootropics company. If you’ve never heard that word before, it’s just a fancy way of saying brain supplements. In five years, most will be taking nootropics on the daily and chances are, they’ll be ours.

With an exceptional efficacy rate, the world has taken notice — we’ve raised over $13M in venture capital, garnered interest from leading neuroscientists and athletes, and established ourselves as the industry’s leading brand. Now, we’re looking for incredible people to help us share the gift of enhanced cognitive function with the world. If you’re looking to be a part of a movement — one that involves both immense self-growth and an ambitious mission to pioneer an industry — we’d love to have you on the team.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Director, Retention Marketing to own the full retention function across both Thesis and Stasis — two fast-growing DTC subscription wellness brands. You’ll build and lead the systems that keep customers subscribed, re-engage those who’ve lapsed, and drive meaningful improvements to LTV across the business. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role for someone who sees churn as a solvable problem and has the data chops and creative instincts to solve it.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own lifecycle strategy: Design and execute the full email and SMS lifecycle across Thesis and Stasis in Klaviyo — from onboarding and engagement to renewal and reactivation
  • Reduce churn: Build and run a systematic churn reduction program targeting M1 churn, using early intervention flows, personalized touchpoints, and subscription pause/save logic
  • Drive win-back and reactivation: Develop high-converting campaigns to bring lapsed subscribers back, turning churned customers into a recurring revenue channel
  • Lead segmentation and personalization: Build sophisticated audience segments based on behavior, purchase history, product affinity, and engagement — and deploy messaging that actually converts
  • Run A/B testing and experimentation: Build a rigorous testing cadence across subject lines, send timing, offer structures, and flow logic to continuously improve performance
  • Report on retention KPIs: Own the retention dashboard — tracking LTV, M1/M3/M6 churn, reactivation rate, email/SMS revenue, and subscriber health — and bring weekly insights to leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with the growth, product, and CX teams to align retention strategy with acquisition quality, product experience, and subscriber feedback
  • Optimize subscription mechanics: Work with product and ops to improve pause flows, cancellation experiences, and subscription flexibility to reduce involuntary churn

We’re Excited About Your:

  • 5–7+ years of experience in retention, lifecycle, or CRM marketing — ideally with ownership over program strategy, not just execution
  • DTC subscription experience strongly preferred — you understand the economics of LTV, CAC payback, and subscriber health
  • Deep Klaviyo expertise — you’ve built complex flows, managed large lists, and know how to get the most out of the platform
  • Proven track record reducing churn and increasing LTV — with real numbers to back it up
  • Strong analytical skills — comfortable with cohort analysis, holdout testing, and building retention models from scratch
  • Experience managing a small team or mentoring junior marketers — you know how to scale yourself through others
  • Excellent cross-functional communication — you can translate retention data into stories that resonate with growth, product, and executive stakeholders
  • Bonus: experience in wellness, supplements, or health — you understand the customer mindset and the trust dynamics that drive long-term loyalty
