POSITION SUMMARY

The Steve Fund is seeking a seasoned Technology Manager/Director to lead the organization’s technology initiatives and drive innovation across the organization. This role involves overseeing IT strategy, managing a diverse team, and ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives. Reporting to the Chief Financial/Operating Officer, this position oversees the planning and management of the Information Technology infrastructure, ensures information security and risk management of systems, database and application integration support, technical support, maintenance and training, and supervisor’s contractors and information technology staffing.

CORE RESPONSIBILITY

PLANNING & MANAGEMENT

  • Deliver cost-effective and right-sized infrastructure solutions in support of The Steve Fund Digital Transformation objectives and strategic goals. Contribute to the development of short and long-term strategy for building a responsive, best-in-class technology infrastructure and platform to support the organization’s operations, including the investment required to achieve the technology outcomes and goals for the organization in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer.

 

  • Working collaboratively across all organization functional areas, leads the Digital Transformation Strategic Goals in continuous evaluation and improvement of its technology-driven processes and workflows and identifies opportunities to improve effectiveness and productivity. Perform high-level business analysis and provide recommendations for architecture to support operations.

 

  • Direct the strategic and tactical planning and implementation of all business information systems, database system strategy, and telecommunications. Manage Information Technology projects with emphasis on team productivity, functionality, and budget compliance.

 

  • Oversee and manage the IT equipment inventory, procurement, and maintenance within the approved budget using an equity lens to ensure opportunities for diverse vendors. 

 

  • Manage service providers under appropriate service level agreements (SLAs).

 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with technology vendors for developing, implementing, and maintaining appropriate network infrastructure, server infrastructure, network storage solutions, data communications, virtual conferencing, and telecommunications systems.

 

  • Negotiate contracts and maintain vendor relationships for computer hardware, software, copiers, printers, telephone systems, and conference room technology

 

  • Create, maintain, and test business continuity/disaster recovery systems and processes in collaboration with Office Admin and Facilities teams.

 

  • Prepare an annual technology budget and control annual technology costs aligned to the Digital Transformation strategy. Approve and monitor invoices and ensure timely payment collaborating with Finance. Plan, forecast, and manage the IT budget, including office equipment, repairs and maintenance, and training.

 

  • Serve as staff liaison to help craft and monitor organizational digital strategy consistent with the program goals developing an IT posture and strategic direction based on the goals of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive and Chief Financial/Operating Office, and incorporating and leveraging new advances in technology, such as artificial intelligence, etc.

 

INFORMATION SECURITY & RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Lead the efforts to create and maintain documented IT policies and IT security controls and procedures to protect organization critical assets and operations.

 

  • Develop and maintain business continuity protocols, governance policies, and system recovery plans to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.

 

  • Participate in information security audits, whether performed by the organization or third-party personnel. Perform quality assurance review of all IT security systems and controls, standardize IT security practices across all internal systems and monitor compliance with IT policies and procedures.

 

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of threat and vulnerability management, identify risk tolerances.

 

  • Ensure audit trails, system logs and other monitoring data sources are reviewed periodically and comply with policies and audit requirements.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT & TRAINING

  • Direct and execute the ongoing operations and maintenance of the organization’s technological resources, including networks (LAN/WAN), servers, databases, applications, workstations, telecommunications and other communications tools, printers/copiers, audiovisual equipment, and security cameras.

 

  • As necessary, install, monitor, and maintain a stable network infrastructure, encompassing routers, servers, firewalls, network switches and wireless access points.

 

  • As necessary, provide support for organizational software applications, including patch and upgrade management, change control, archiving, performance tuning, and optimization of all business systems.

 

  • Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and upgrade a range of software, hardware, and systems for the use of staff to enable them to maximize their productivity.

 

  • Provide staff with technical support and first-line troubleshooting of hardware, software, audiovisual, and telecommunications issues. Escalate issues and engage warranty and vendor support as needed.

 

  • Manage organization-wide technology training, with an emphasis on improving user acceptance of the organization's technology tools and adherence to established standards.

 

  • Function as a subject matter expert and resource, especially as it relates to information technology projects; this may require attending meetings and conferences and giving presentations as well as reviewing articles and research.

 

  • Perform other duties as required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES & GENERAL LEADERSHIP DUTIES 

  • This position currently supervises an IT Manager, (contracted service), responsible for Helpdesk support, outsourced IT support vendors, and provides guidance to all staff regarding IT.

 

  • Support and fully participate in all activities as a key contributor and staff leader.

 

  • Participate as an active contributor in the budgeting process, reviewing departmental financial statements monthly to ensure department activities are meeting and exceeding organizational fiscal budgeted needs.

 

  • Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adhere to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment, demonstrating a flexible approach with short deadlines. 

 

  • Maintain current professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing professional networks, and participating in professional Associations.

 

  • Promote a culture of engagement in digital technology and high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality improvement. Foster a service orientation for all staff.

  • Must be proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, database software, and internet use.
  • Experience with cloud-based systems; examples include Salesforce, Concur, Zoom, Teams, Mailchimp and Constant Contact.
  • Current Security+ certification.
  • Current, relevant industry certifications ITIL MP, CASP) or relevant experience that demonstrates proficiency in administration, management, and governance of information systems.
  • Excellent working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot computer systems, security, network and
  • systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems.
  • Understand governance and regulatory policies such as GDPR, PCI DSS, and PII standards to ensure that HRCF’s systems adhere to all legal requirements.
  • Expertise with Windows 10 and 11, Microsoft 365 and Office, Server 2019, relational databases, and Linux.
  • Expertise in cabling, wireless access, and TCP/IP networking.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; master’s preferred. Relevant professional experience can be substituted. 
  • Five to eight (5-8) + years of experience in technology management or leadership roles. 
  • Experience working Enterprise-Wide Software Application Certification and familiarity with leading org-wide adoption of an enterprise software application, such as a Member Relationship Management System, etc.
  • Familiarity with data management strategies to connect multiple applications together.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization applications such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience working with CRM software, preferably in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.
  • Microsoft Associate-level (or higher) certifications in Azure and Microsoft 365 are highly desirable.
  • Management certifications CISSP (certified information security systems certification), CCISO (certified chief information security officer), PMP (project management professional), or similar certifications are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development, and project management.
  • Excellent communications skills and leadership qualities that engage team in digital success
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills. 
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with executives and departmental leaders. 

 

COMPENSATION

The annual salary range is between $140,000 - $156,000, depending on level of experience.  Benefits include health insurance, a monthly data/business expense stipend, employer contributions towards a retirement plan, four weeks of paid vacation, eight sick days, and 11 paid holidays.
