Systems Engineer

The Swift Group is seeking an experienced Windows Applications Packager (Cloud) Systems Engineer to perform a variety of engineering analyses, software and hardware development, integration, testing, maintenance tasks, and support duties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for problem resolution, supporting existing infrastructure services, and integrating new capabilities within an Azure cloud environment. This position is located in the Herndon, VA area. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and implement the best methods for installing and deploying applications in the Azure Cloud.
  • Monitor and evaluate applications, Cloud/Azure Virtual Desktop (VDI) environments, and application deployments.
  • Research, develop, and deliver solutions for new technical requirements.
  • Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting and engineering support for Windows 10 (and higher) desktop operating systems, including build and deployment methods.
  • Troubleshoot and support Windows Server 2019 (and higher) technologies.
  • Provide engineering support for Microsoft Azure Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Troubleshoot and support desktop applications, including M365 products and classification management tools.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support technical initiatives.
  • Document system changes and updates comprehensively.
  • Engineer, support, and troubleshoot Microsoft Defender, including its utilization for reporting and patching.
  • Provide assistance to Tier 3 and Tier 4 personnel with user issues, application assistance, and network troubleshooting.
  • Create and deliver briefings and presentations to customers at various levels.
  • Develop automation processes using PowerShell to improve efficiency and configuration management.

.Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in Windows systems engineering and cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with application packaging tools and technologies.
  • Expertise in deploying and managing applications in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
  • Strong knowledge of configuring and maintaining cloud-based environments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain best practice workflows for software requests, procurement, and deployments.
  • Significant engineering experience supporting Windows platforms, services, and tools, including:
    • Windows 10 (and higher) and application compatibility
    • Active Directory and Group Policy
    • DNS, DHCP network services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical documentation and organizational skills.
  • Robust troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze technical issues effectively.
  • US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft SCCM/MECM/Intune for application deployment.
    • Supporting Microsoft 365 Suite (Exchange, Teams, etc.) in an enterprise environment.
    • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
    • Azure DevOps and cloud automation.
    • Version control platforms such as GitHub.
    • Business intelligence tools like Power BI.
    • Development environments such as Visual Studio Code.
    • Microsoft KQL (Kusto Query Language).
    • InTune administration and configuration.
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
    • Working within Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to create and modify MS PowerShell scripts for automation.
  • Relevant certifications, including:
    • Microsoft AZ900 (Azure Fundamentals).
    • Microsoft MS900 (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals).

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00

Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
