Systems Engineer

Ops Consulting is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support mission-critical cybersecurity modernization efforts. This position plays a pivotal role in analyzing, designing, and integrating complex systems. As a key technical leader, you will guide systems engineering activities, drive security-by-design strategies, and collaborate with elite cybersecurity teams to defend against emerging threats.

The Systems Engineer shall be responsible for constructing, annotating, and publishing results throughout Phase 1. This includes configuring Docker containers to operate various AI models within both classified and unclassified networks and ensuring that CSSP monitoring tools can effectively observe these systems. They will dedicate considerable effort to integrating our AI detection capabilities into existing CSSP security tools, including developing custom Splunk data inputs, formulating Suricata rules for AI traffic patterns, and creating automated workflows within the IC. A significant aspect of their responsibilities involves bridging the gap between the AI domain and security operations, assisting CSSP analysts in comprehending system behaviors when AI functions deviate from traditional applications. Additionally, they will document all processes in accordance with systems engineering standards to ensure traceability of requirements from testing scenarios to actual security objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A current government clearance, a background investigation, and a polygraph examination are required.
  • Experience: Minimum 14 years of systems engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership in complex system development and integration.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Docker containerization experience
  • API integration and system-to-system communication experience
  • Python or Bash scripting
  • Linux system administration
  • Certifications:
    • CompTIA Cloud+ Certification (Cloud+)
    • DoD 8570 IAT Level I or II Certification (e.g., Security+, SSCP, GSEC)
    • Computing Environment (CE) Certification, which may include:
      • Windows, Linux, Cisco, Red Hat, Microsoft, Python, Splunk, Kibana, Advanced Cyber Defense Course, or other operating systems and tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk) or IDS tools (Suricata)
  • Understanding of AI/ML workloads and resource patterns
  • Prior DoD/IC experience

Good to Know:

  • Will work in both classified and unclassified environments
  • Will integrate with existing CSSP security tools (Splunk, Suricata, Carbon Black)
  • Will deploy AI models in Docker for testing (open-source models like Llama, Mistral)
  • Will work alongside SOC analysts to validate monitoring capabilities

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
