Pipefitter
Summary:
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plumbing and pipefitting techniques, along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Pipefitter will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems that convey various materials such as water, gas, steam, or chemicals. This position requires a keen attention to detail, the ability to interpret blueprints and schematics, and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, and install pipes using various tools and equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and configuration of piping systems.
- Select appropriate piping materials and components based on project requirements and specifications.
- Assemble and install piping systems according to established standards and regulations.
- Inspect and test piping systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Repair or replace damaged, worn, or malfunctioning pipes, valves, fittings, and other components.
- Stick weld and TIG weld experience including carbon steel and stainless steel.
- Repair and installation of pumps, boilers, chillers and cooling towers.
- Collaborate with other construction trades and project stakeholders to coordinate installation activities.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazards.
Experience and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized pipefitting apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Pipefitter in the construction, manufacturing, or industrial sector.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong knowledge of piping materials, fittings, and installation techniques.
- Ability to operate pipefitting tools and equipment such as pipe wrenches, cutters, threaders, and welding machines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks requiring heavy lifting, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., Journeyman Pipefitter, OSHA 10/30, etc.).
- Additional training or coursework in welding, fabrication, or related fields.
- Experience with industrial piping systems, HVAC systems, or fire protection systems.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Regular and Timely Attendance
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours) without a break.
- Position requires bending, twisting, stooping, climbing
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Position requires pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in various outdoor and indoor environments, including construction sites.
- Capable of navigating uneven surfaces and climbing ladders.
- May be exposed to temperature changes and confined spaces.
Work Environment:
- Normally works in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in high, precarious places.
- Exposure to wet and humid conditions, airborne particles and confined spaces.
