Job brief:

This role will focus on driving meaningful business results for The Weather Channel properties through the company’s social media accounts. The Weather Company currently operates on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, and Reddit, and we continue to seek emerging platforms that can help grow our fan base and brand.

The Impact You’ll Make:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the company’s marketing and business objectives.
  • Partner with editorial on content strategy, ensuring best practices.
  • Manage communication on social media for severe weather, winter storms, hurricanes, and wildfires.
  • Identify target audiences and create strategies to effectively reach and engage them.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging, and shareable content for all social media platforms, including text, images, videos, and infographics.
  • Maintain a content calendar and schedule posts to ensure consistent and timely updates across all platforms.
  • Plan, execute, and manage social media posts for weather forecasts, weather education, weather virals, and scroll stoppers.
  • Oversee social media team experiments and pivot based on learnings.
  • Monitor social media content performance and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired results.
  • Manage and optimize the use of social media reporting and campaign management tools to track performance metrics, generate insights, and provide actionable recommendations for strategy adjustments.
  • Monitor how the social platforms are performing against KPIs and goals such as followers, impressions, and clicks.
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and foster a sense of community on social media platforms.
  • Monitor social media channels for brand mentions and relevant conversations, and participate as appropriate.
  • Experiment with new social media strategies and platforms to keep the company’s social media presence fresh and innovative.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ve Accomplished:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field; or commensurate experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in social media management, with a proven track record of successful strategy development and execution.
  • Understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, and others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, Google Analytics).
  • Experience with social media advertising and paid campaign management.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
