The role

This is a Remote role.

The Online Maths Tutor will be responsible for delivering online Maths courses to students in Key Stage 1, 2, 3 OR preparing GCSE exams on weekday evenings and Weekends.

The tutor should follow the structured lesson plan to deliver the high-quality live sessions in a group setting (up to 20 students each class). Tutors are also expected to provide feedback on students’ performance to students and parents. 

All the tutors will receive our world-class tutor training, which will teach you various ways to deliver our industry-leading teaching methodology. We are committed to continually developing our team and promoting those members that show promise.

 

Expected Working Hours:

  • Averagely 20 hours per week.
  • Typically, 1.5 hours per live session; ideally 4-5 sessions per week.
  • Evening working hours between 5pm – 8pm, typically 6 – 7.30pm.
  • Weekend working hours between 9am – 8pm, typically 9-10.30am, 11am – 12.30pm, 2-3.30pm, 4-5.30pm, 6-7.30pm; up to 4 sessions per day.

Job Details

  • Attend structured tutor training sessions.
  • Attend weekly teaching preparation and carry out mock sessions.
  • Deliver live session in group setting on weekly basis with confidence and energy.
  • Provide essential after-class feedback to individual clients (students and their parents), including but not limited to professionally articulating student's performance in class and their learning progress, and offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Build close relationships with students and parents and strive for high retention rates.

Optional tasks

  • Participate into course promotional activities, including but not limited to deliver Trial Class and carry out conversion conversation with perspective clients.
  • Participate into after-class customer service, including but not limited to record solution videos for after-class exercises, test, exam and deliver revision session or catch-up session to relevant students.

Requirements

  • Clear DBS record.
  • Passion for education and children, strong patience and responsibility.
  • Commitment to weekly sessions on weekday evenings and/or weekends on fixed time slots constantly throughout the academic year.
  • Excellent English language proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Punctual and excellent in time management.
  • Quick learner and keen for continuous self-development.
  • Experience within the education industry or a background in tutoring mathematics is better but not essential.
  • Maths competition experience and achievements is great but not compulsory.

 

Location:

  • A 2-hour on-site Initial training will be conducted in the office @ WeWork, 30 Churchill Place, London, Canary Wharf, E14 5RE.
  • Future communication and live session delivery can be conducted remotely.

Tutoring Fee:

£40+ per hour with promotion twice a year.

Selection Process:

  • 1st interview with HR: 30-minute ZOOM meeting
  • Maths Knowledge Assessment
  • 2nd interview with Head of Teaching & HR: 45-minute Zoom Meeting
  • Offer for training.

 

The initial training will last for around 2-3 weeks, including

  • an online HR induction – 45 minutes
  • onsite Tutor Induction – 2 hours
  • 3 rounds of Mock Sessions – 1~1.5 hour(s) each
  • case studies of communication with clients – 1 hour
  • safeguarding training & assessment – 1 hour

Qualified tutors will then be assigned to teach long-term regular courses. 

 

There are 2 terms in one Academic Year:

  • Term A: end July ~ mid-December (20 sessions with 2 breaks)
  • Term B: January ~ mid-July (24 sessions with 3 breaks)

Tutors are required to be committed for at least one term. The longer the better!
