Summary

We're looking for an experienced Full-Stack Engineering Manager to lead and contribute to our engineering team. This role is for a hands-on leader who is passionate about building great software and fostering a collaborative team environment. You'll spend a significant portion of your time on development while also guiding a small team of talented engineers. What You'll Do

Technical Strategy & Execution:

  • Drive Development: Actively contribute to the design, development, and deployment of full-stack solutions. You'll be coding regularly, working across both front-end and back-end systems to build and enhance our platform.
  • Inform the Roadmap: You’ll work closely with our product team, helping to shape our technical vision and product roadmap, from initial concepts through to scalable solutions.
  • Define Architecture: Define technical requirements and design robust, scalable systems architecture, ensuring clarity on feasibility, timelines, and impact.
  • Champion Best Practices: Promote and implement best practices for coding, software development lifecycle, and quality assurance.
  • Innovate and Improve: Continuously identify opportunities for product improvement and explore new technologies to overcome challenges and drive success.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality product releases that meet business priorities.

People Management & Team Growth:

  • Lead & Mentor: Guide, mentor, and support a small, agile engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, growth, and continuous learning.
  • Remote Management: Experience working with and managing engineering contractors remotely in the EU timezones
  • Build the Team: Help attract, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Foster Culture: Champion a high-performing, inclusive team environment where collaboration and diverse perspectives thrive.
  • Communicate Vision: Clearly communicate the technical vision and strategy to your team and other stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

  • Extensive Development Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience architecting and building products, with a strong background in full-stack development (both front-end and back-end).
  • Leadership Potential: Experience leading projects or small teams (e.g., as a team lead or senior engineer), with a desire to grow into a management role.
  • Adaptability: A proactive, "get it done" attitude, with the ability to wear multiple hats and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Technical Foundation:
    • Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks including Node.js and Next.js.
    • Experience building and consuming APIs (e.g., REST, GraphQL).
    • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud-native application development.
    • Experience with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL).
    • Experience with Python
  • Agile Approach: Experience working in agile environments and a proven ability to deliver high-quality software efficiently.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for simplifying complex issues.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with Django
    • Familiarity with serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda).
    • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
    • Understanding of CI/CD principles and tools.
    • UX/UI experience is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.

Time Commitment / Travel Requirements

  • Full-Time
  • Preferred location: Austin, TX. Remote work will be considered for the right candidate.
  • Occasional travel (around 5%) may be required.
