At ThoughtExchange, we’re reshaping how organizations engage their people for good. If you’re passionate about making a difference, we’d love to have you on the journey.
The Role:
As an Intermediate Software Developer at ThoughtExchange, you'll own the delivery of features and small-to-medium projects from start to finish. You'll have a real, visible impact on team outcomes, independently shipping moderately complex features with quality, reliability, and urgency. You'll be a technical owner within your team, working closely with Product and Design, and helping shape your team's technical direction, culture, and delivery excellence. This role is a great fit for someone with a strong foundation in software development who's ready to grow their system design skills and take on more ownership!
What You’ll Do:
- Own the end-to-end delivery of moderately complex features and small-to-medium projects, from idea through production
- Design, build, test, and maintain clean, reliable, well-documented code
- Act as the technical owner for your features or projects, ensuring quality, performance, scalability, and security
- Build and maintain automated tests to support safe, reliable deployments
- Scope, estimate, and manage your own work, communicating progress, risks, and blockers clearly and on time
- Independently debug issues and investigate unfamiliar parts of the codebase, including participating in the support rotation
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teammates on requirements, feasibility, and design
- Actively participate in stand-ups, technical discussions, and code reviews, giving and receiving thoughtful feedback
- Support and mentor more junior developers while helping improve team processes and ways of working
- Build an understanding of our product, customers, and how your work connects to company goals
What We’re Looking for:
- 3+ years of professional experience in software development, computer science, or computer engineering (co-op/internship experience counts toward this)
- Proficiency in at least one core programming language used by our teams (e.g., .NET, JavaScript, TypeScript), with the ability to independently deliver moderately complex features
- Solid working knowledge of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server), including schema design, querying, and performance considerations
- Experience working within a modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem — frameworks, build tools, package managers, and debugging workflows
- Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests
- Ability to scope, estimate, and execute moderately complex work with minimal guidance
- Strong collaboration skills — you work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with system monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Sentry, Scalyr, Azure Logs)
- Exposure to Flutter or similar cross-platform mobile frameworks
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts, preferably Azure
- Comfort navigating and debugging unfamiliar areas of a production codebase
- A growth mindset, a sense of ownership, and a willingness to mentor others
Salary Range
