Legal Counsel

Legal Counsel

Thoughtworks is not your average company; so, don’t expect to find average people working here. Thoughtworks is a growing technology consultancy with an enviable track record of delivering real business value. Talented, driven and principled people have been brought together because they want to do amazing work for our clients.

Do you want to be an important part of our dynamic in-house legal department and key support of our European businesses as well as a part of our extended global legal team with colleagues in the UK, Germany, Spain, USA, Australia, China, India, Chile, Singapore, Thailand and Brazil.

The Opportunity:

As our Legal Counsel, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our legal interests and facilitating our continued growth. You will be a go-to legal expert, working closely with our sales/market teams in particular. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a diverse range of legal matters in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment.

In particular, you will be responsible for supporting our client demand teams based in the UK and Spain as well as other European markets as you draft, review, and negotiate client agreements for our services. Your ability to prioritise demands and skilfully handle a busy workload of client agreements is essential.

Currently, we operate as a remote team in Europe with team members based in the UK, Germany, and Spain. We find that relationship building is most successful when there is regular office time spent with colleagues, and so proximity to an office where other legal team members are based is preferable, but we are very open to a range of options.

Job responsibilities

  • Service oriented: Proactive in anticipating the needs of your stakeholders and committed to delivering highly responsive service.
  • Ambiguity: Undeterred by ambiguity, uncertainty and limited resources. Able to hold many different possibilities and conflicting viewpoints in mind and devise a solution. You can envision what is possible and then implement a solution.
  • Communication: Proactive communicator. Can easily build credibility and trust across a wide range of people.
  • Resilient: Personal and professional resilience. Can accept mistakes and handle conflict.
  • Team Work: Collaborative mindset and able to work with all kinds of people. Leads by example. Willing to step in and do what is needed. Low ego.
  • Sense of Urgency and Ownership: Has a strong desire to be proactive and innovative, and a commitment to owning challenging issues and solving them.
