About the Role

The goal of the cloud and enterprise agents data platform is to provide customers end-to-end visibility into infrastructure (cloud or native), applications, networks, the Internet, and everything in between. With ThousandEyes' unprecedented visibility into application and internet performance, we can help root cause issues that are impacting business-critical experiences and give customers confidence in their ability to solve issues and deliver stellar experiences.
What You’ll Do
As a part of this team, you will build the platform that helps us scale the ThousandEyes platform for the next 10x growth. The cloud and enterprise agents platform exposes fine-grained telemetry data to customers and partners for the ThousandEyes platform that are collected from our agent platform. You will contribute to building robust and scalable real-time data platform with high throughput ingress, intelligent and dynamic enrichment, and storage for our customers and micro-services that support business workflows. You will provide architectural oversight and review to continually improve customer experiences and ensure services are able to meet their SLA targets.
Qualifications
- Expert-level understanding of object-oriented programming languages.
- If you have expert-level understanding of another object oriented language such as C, C++, C#, golang, rust, etc. Feel free to apply as we embrace these candidates and be prepared to interview in Java.
- Experience with enterprise build tools (maven, gradle, etc) and containerization/virtualization for web applications
- Expert-level understanding of managing datastores like SQL, key-value DBs, elasticsearch, pubsub systems, and blob storage.
- Understanding of network protocols.
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Ability to articulate design choices based on an expert understanding of the product, technology, and return on investment.
- Able to handle ambiguity, self-direct when needed, scope work accurately, and provide precise estimates for project milestones and completion
- An eye for proactively identifying and resolving risks in production systems, and passion for operational excellence.
- Experience working in a development environment with a strong focus on continuous delivery
- Real-world experience with all of the fundamentals
- Thinking thru the maintainability of web scale distributed systems
- Simple clean code that is easy to understand and maintain
- Uplifting live operational code past legacy paradigms safely
- Always being collaborative, transparent, and focused on team success
- Ability to mentor peers and other members of the team in your areas of expertise
Preferred Skills
- Expert-level understanding of JVM based languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, etc.
- Ability to contribute knowledge sharing within the professional community with technical blogs or publications
- Involvement in building large-scale real-time streaming pipelines using Kafka, Flink, or Spark
- Knowledge and use of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, and GCP)
- Experience with low-latency distributed systems

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
