Scope of Work:
The primary purpose of the Journeyman Plumber position is to perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, and repair of plumbing, piping, water, gas, heating, steam, sanitation, and drainage systems supporting facilities at Naval Support Activity Bethesda.
Responsibilities:
- Performs plumbing installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and modification of water, waste, drainage, gas, heating, steam, and sanitation systems.
- Installs, repairs, and replaces piping, valves, fixtures, pumps, water heaters, backflow prevention devices, and associated plumbing equipment.
- Diagnoses plumbing system failures and determines the appropriate repair methods.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and plumbing schematics.
- Plans work layouts and sequences installations to minimize disruption to facility operations.
- Locates and marks pipe routing and penetrations through walls, ceilings, and floors.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and corrective maintenance on plumbing systems.
- Ensures all work complies with applicable federal, state, local, and installation plumbing codes.
- Coordinates with other maintenance trades when repairs involve multiple building systems.
- Maintains accurate maintenance records and completes required work documentation.
- Maintains clean and orderly work areas before, during, and after maintenance activities.
- Uses appropriate PPE and complies with all OSHA, Navy, environmental, and company safety requirements.
- Participates in emergency response activities and may be assigned to after-hours, callback, or on-call duties as required.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum five (5) years of commercial, industrial, institutional, or government facilities plumbing experience.
- Must possess and maintain a current Maryland Journeyman Plumber/Gas Fitter License, as required by the Government contract.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, including the ability to independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plumbing and piping systems using standard plumbing tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Backflow Certification preferred.
- Experience maintaining commercial plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Working knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and industry standards.
- Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; push, pull, carry, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, reach overhead, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, mechanical rooms, at heights, and around energized equipment and other workplace hazards while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-back situations.
US Pay Range
$45.47 - $45.47 USD
