About the Role
The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and oversight of transportation operations in support of a U.S. Navy installation. The position serves as the on-site transportation lead and has the authority and responsibility necessary to ensure transportation services are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual performance objectives, applicable regulations, and established Company procedures.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and oversee daily transportation operations, personnel, vehicles, and resources in support of contract requirements.
- Ensure performance objectives and service standards identified under Annex 1700000 BSVE are consistently achieved.
- Plan staffing, schedules, vehicle assignments, dispatch activities, and operational priorities to maintain reliable service.
- Monitor fleet availability and coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and readiness requirements.
- Track operational performance, service metrics, and contractual requirements; identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable DoD, Navy, installation, safety, regulatory, and Company requirements.
- Maintain accurate operational records, reports, inspections, and required contract documentation.
- Lead, coach, and hold assigned personnel accountable for safety, performance, customer service, and operational standards.
- Coordinate with Program Management, Government representatives, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders to resolve operational issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, reliability, safety, and overall service delivery.
- Ensure adherence to Company policies and contractual obligations.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing transportation operations on projects of similar size, scope, and complexity. Within a U.S. Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), or Base Operations Support (BOS) environment.
- Demonstrated experience supervising transportation personnel and coordinating day-to-day transportation or fleet operations.
- Working knowledge of transportation operations, dispatching, fleet utilization, vehicle safety, preventive maintenance coordination, and operational planning.
- Ability to interpret and apply contractual requirements, operating procedures, technical guidance, and applicable transportation regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with work order systems such as Maximo preferred.
- Experience supporting federal installations or working within the government contracting environment preferred.
- Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- This position is primarily performed in an office setting; however, regular site visits and field inspections are required. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active work sites when necessary. This may include standing, walking, bending, or climbing for extended periods while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
