ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Member Ops technology teams. This group is at the heart of how we serve our members – building the systems that power Tide’s support, risk, and back-office operations. From case management platforms to AI-driven automation, your teams will make sure our members get seamless, fast, and reliable support whenever they need us.
This is a role for someone who loves scaling technology and people. You’ll partner with Product, Risk, and Operations leaders to shape the future of our Ops platforms and take our member experience to the next level.
- Owning the technology strategy and roadmap for Member Ops systems (support platforms, case management, AI workflows, fraud tooling, and automation).
- Leading and growing multiple engineering squads – building an inclusive, high-performance culture.
- Partnering with Product, Data, Risk, and Ops to deliver tools that improve both member and agent experience.
- Driving reliability, scalability, and security across all Ops systems.
- Championing automation, data-driven decision making, and AI/ML opportunities to reduce operational cost and friction.
- Coaching and mentoring senior engineers and managers to become future leaders.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 15+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in leadership roles (Senior Manager/Director level).
- A track record of building large-scale distributed systems or workflow/operations platforms in fintech, SaaS, or high-scale consumer products.
- Experience with support platforms, back-office systems, or risk/compliance tooling (bonus points for KYC/AML/fraud systems).
- The ability to set long-term tech direction while staying close to the details when needed.
- Excellent people leadership skills – you know how to grow and inspire teams.
- Solid technical foundations: cloud-native architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and data platforms (AWS or GCP).
- A love for automation and, ideally, some exposure to AI/ML in support or risk domains.
