ABOUT THE TEAM

The Risk & Compliance team is our second line of defence (2LOD) at Tide, overseeing risk and compliance across all our global markets. The team covers all risk classes, including information security risk, financial crime risk, conduct risk, and operational risk. It is highly collaborative, focused on fostering a strong culture of compliance, acting as business partners to our first line of defence (1LOD) colleagues, and providing expert and independent oversight.
The Operational Risk area within Risk & Compliance provides second line oversight of a wide range of important topics - from third party risk management to incidents, from assessing AI related risks to supporting the business in delivering its ambitious change agenda. The timing of this role presents a significant opportunity to help shape how we manage Operational Risk in the EU, leveraging your experience and knowledge of industry best practices. The role reports to the Director of RIsk and Compliance, (EU), and you will work closely with the Global Head of Operational Risk, specialising in the EU region.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Operational Risk and Outsourcing Oversight Manager, you’ll take on a key second line of defence (2LOD) role, helping to shape and strengthen our operational risk framework across our growing EU operations.  Based in Luxembourg, you’ll be at the heart of our European expansion — bringing your expertise to deepen our understanding of operational risk, enhance our controls, and ensure our business continues to scale safely and effectively as we grow into new countries and become licensed.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, providing insight, challenge, and guidance to both business leaders and executives. Partnering closely with our first line of defence (1LOD) teams — from engineering and operations to people and culture — you’ll help embed strong risk management practices and foster a culture of accountability.

Collaboration is key: you’ll also work hand in hand with other 2LOD risk teams, as well as quality control and enterprise risk management, to ensure a consistent, forward-thinking approach to risk oversight across the organisation.
This is a unique opportunity to make an impact — balancing risk and innovation as we scale our EU business to the next level.

As Operational Risk and Outsourcing Oversight Manager you will:

  • Work with the Global Head of Operational Risk in the implementation and ongoing refinement of the operational risk management framework, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and EU regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the Director of Risk and Compliance - EU, in ensuring global policies appropriately reflect the needs of our EU members, and that the Operational Risk profile in the EU is appropriately managed and monitored.
  • Drive efforts to build operational resilience across the organisation, ensuring ongoing compliance with DORA requirements.  You will work with stakeholders to ensure Tide can withstand and recover from disruptions, with a focus on regulatory compliance and industry standards.
  • Related to the above, oversee incident response protocols in the EU, ensuring timely resolution, root cause analysis, and the implementation of preventive measures to enhance operational resilience.
  • Maintain and oversee key third party and outsourcing arrangements, including intragroup outsourcing.  Periodically report on the overall status of outsourcing in our EU region.  Support efforts to improve our insight into interdependencies and concentrations in our supply chain.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, Corporate IT and Information Security teams to manage risks associated with IT infrastructure, software development, and third-party technology providers.
  • Oversee and support implementations of frameworks that govern key financial procedures relevant to our EU region, including Safeguarding and Financial Control functions which manage Operational Risk.
  • Enhance and regularly test business continuity and disaster recovery plans to minimise the impact of operational disruptions on critical business functions.
  • Develop and deliver operational risk and resilience training programmes to employees, fostering a culture of risk awareness and proactive management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the operational risk function by leveraging emerging technologies and methodologies (e.g., AI, machine learning) to enhance risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes.
  • Support the running of our EU Region Operational Risk Working Group, reporting to the Risk & Compliance Committee, and preparing reports for the board.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking an Operational Risk professional who has a strong background in financial services, or a global technology company. The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Operational Risk Management
  • A strong understanding of EU regulatory expectations for operational risk management, with experience with DORA and at least one of the following other relevant areas: Safeguarding, EU AI Act, and Outsourcing.
  • CSSF regulatory exposure and experience would be a strong positive.
  • Ability to evidence a ‘hands-on’ approach to risk management, in particular within the above mentioned areas, or others including third party risk management, incident management, business continuity plan testing, risk data handling, or the reporting of Operational Risk
  • Experience in a financial, technology or payments company
  • Good understanding of operational risks in a fast-growing, global technology company
  • Understanding of good practice in risk data management, setting risk appetite, policies, risk monitoring and conducting oversight.
  • Being a self-starter, with the ability to really own a piece of work, make it their own, and take on personal accountability for working to a high standard.
