ABOUT THE ROLE
As we continue to experience rapid growth, we are seeking a high-calibre Commercial Finance (FP&A) Manager to effectively spearhead business partnering with our operations teams. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Commercial Finance and the Payments team to develop a deep understanding of key revenue and COGS drivers, while taking end-to-end ownership of a product P&L.
The successful candidate will come from a strong FP&A or data background, with prior exposure to payments or credit considered highly desirable.
As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will play a critical role within the financial planning and analysis function—providing insight into company performance, forecasting future trends, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role requires strong analytical capability, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills to partner successfully with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
You will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the organisation and drive sustainable growth. Your financial expertise and strategic insights will directly influence senior-level decisions, enabling the business to optimise resource allocation, capitalise on growth opportunities, and navigate complex market dynamics with confidence.
As Commercial Finance (FP&A) Manager you will:
- Act as the leading financial voice for a key Tide revenue stream, becoming the subject-matter expert and “mini-CFO” for the product area, with full ownership of the product P&L.
- Lead components of the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes in close partnership with Senior Leadership and business stakeholders.
- Own, manage, and continuously enhance the key financial models within Payments or Credit used to forecast Tide’s financial performance.
- Develop detailed financial models to support scenario and sensitivity analysis and assess the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
- Build a strong understanding of product profitability through unit economics, delivering clear and meaningful analysis to senior management and the wider business.
- Leverage large and complex datasets to identify risks and opportunities, analyse industry trends, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to Senior Leadership and stakeholders.
- Review reports, financial models, analyses, and other outputs produced by FP&A Analysts and the wider Finance team.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure financial completeness, accuracy, compliance, and integrity.
- Drive continuous process improvements across FP&A activities.
- Act as a trusted business partner, collaborating closely with area and unit leaders to monitor and improve financial performance, identify cost-optimisation opportunities, and enhance operational efficiency within the payments area.
- Contribute to future initiatives aimed at enhancing Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Qualified accountant (CA – ICAI, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Undergraduate or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics.
- Experience working within a Tech or Fintech environment, with a preference for Payments, Acquiring, Savings, or Credit.
- 7+ years of relevant or transferable experience, ideally within FP&A at a high-growth startup or scale-up in the financial services or technology sectors.
- Highly data-driven and model-focused, with a strong ability to tell a compelling story through numbers.
- Deep experience with unit economics and analysing trends across large customer datasets.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with experience using data visualisation tools (e.g. Looker). Experience with financial planning tools (e.g. Anaplan) is a plus.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage and challenge Senior Leadership (VP and C-suite).
- Demonstrated track record of driving meaningful process improvements within FP&A and the broader business.
- Proven ability to translate data into insights that drive financial performance improvements.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
