ABOUT THE ROLE:
Note: this is a fixed-term contract position with an initial expected duration of 12-18 months.
As the Regulatory Risk and Compliance Lead GL/EU, your core purpose is to lead the design, implementation and oversight of the global regulatory risk framework, support international expansion, and ensure consistent application of regulatory standards across all jurisdictions. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating regulatory risks, while ensuring that Tide’s compliance frameworks are embedded across the business.
This role focuses on global strategy, standard-setting, and oversight, occasionally supporting regional compliance roles that handle local regulator engagement and local BAU activities.
Working closely with teams across the organisation, including Product, Member Operations, Payments, Marketing, Legal and Finance, you will provide expert advice on regulatory developments, lead compliance initiatives, and integrate regulatory requirements into our day-to-day operations.
As the subject matter expert on particular regulations, you’ll help to steer decisions, impact strategies and support the rest of the team and business. At Tide, you’ll be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with cross-team exposure, inquisitive freedom and the ability to impact how Tide conducts its business.
As Regulatory Risk & Compliance Lead GL/EU you will:
- Lead the compliance analysis and develop recommendations for international expansion, including market prioritisation, licence strategy and regulatory feasibility.
- Design proposed regulatory operating models for new markets, including governance, initial control sets, monitoring approach and MI.
- Coordinate the compliance workstream for market entry, including engagement with external counsel and local advisors.
- Deliver expansion projects from initial scoping through launch and structured handover into BAU ownership.
- Provide the final compliance opinion and recommendation on expansion options for decision by senior leadership.
- Lead the design and ongoing evolution of global minimum standards for regulatory risk management.
- Develop and maintain global compliance methodologies, policies, procedures, control taxonomy and monitoring approach, aligned to agreed risk appetite.
- Translate regulatory requirements into scalable, repeatable global processes.
- Design global governance structures, escalation routes and MI definitions to ensure consistency and comparability across regions.
- Operate and maintain the global compliance monitoring plan, including thematic reviews and cross-market analysis.
- Review and challenge BAU MI to identify trends, emerging regulatory risks and control weaknesses.
- Ensure issues, deviations and weaknesses are appropriately escalated through governance to the Global Director of Compliance and CRO where required.
- Provide senior regulatory advice and support on complex or sensitive matters.
- Support regional compliance teams where capability or capacity gaps exist, including taking temporary end-to-end ownership of defined activities when required and at an exemption basis, in particular the EU Compliance function.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- At least 8 years of experience in Compliance, Regulatory Risk, or Risk Management at a senior level within financial services.
- Strong expertise in EU financial regulations, such as PSD2/3, GDPR, DORA, EBA Guidelines and related frameworks.
- Proven track record in designing global regulatory standards, policies, governance, controls, monitoring methodologies, and MI.
- Direct experience leading compliance-driven international expansion, including licence strategy, regulatory mapping, operating model design and rollout
- Proven track record in regulatory submissions, licence applications, and reporting, ensuring compliance with Luxembourg and EU requirements.
- Direct experience interacting with regulators, handling responses, managing notifications, and supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and thematic reviews.
- Experience in oversight functions, monitoring key risk indicators (KRIs), and providing Compliance Advisory on new initiatives, products, and services.
- Background in Banking, FinTech, Payments/E-Money firms, or Regulatory Consultancy.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations, research requirements, and advise internal stakeholders on compliance matters.
- Proactive problem solver with a strong sense of ownership and accountability in resolving compliance challenges.
- Exceptional organisational skills, managing multiple projects, deadlines, and regulatory engagements effectively.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with strong drafting, analytical, and risk assessment skills.
