Position Overview
The Institutional Giving Manager is part of a dynamic development department charged with raising funds to support Tipping Point’s vision for impact. This is our second institutional giving hire, and the first dedicated to building out Tipping Point's emerging corporate engagement strategy and turning informal, relationship-driven corporate support into a proactive, repeatable model that unlocks both corporate and individual giving.
The Institutional Giving Manager assists with strategic leadership and takes tactical ownership over the majority of corporate funding activity, including owning a portfolio of corporate donors and prospects, writing high-quality and compelling correspondence, proposals, and grant reports for institutional funders. The Institutional Giving Manager is a strategic thinker with exceptional writing and relationship management skills, strong project management experience, attention to detail and the capacity to translate program initiatives and impact into targeted and compelling funding requests, and serve as an ambassador of Tipping Point, representing the organization to donors, partners, grantees, and others.
This position reports directly to the Institutional Giving Director.
Responsibilities
Relationship Management
- Manages a dedicated portfolio of corporate partners as primary relationship owner, cultivating and maintaining relationships with corporate donors; engaging and soliciting donors on an annual basis through meetings, events, campaigns and other outreach; Managing stewardship for firms and key stakeholders within them once funds or commitments are secured.
- Identifies, researches, and cultivates prospects, pursuing leads, and pitching new institutional funders to help grow the existing portfolio.
- Builds and maintains a network map of corporate relationships connected to Tipping Point's Board and Leadership Council, ensuring warm introductions convert into active relationships.
- Writes materials to effectively support the CEO, Chief Development Officer, Senior Director of Philanthropy, and other development and executive team members to develop and maintain relationships with corporate and institutional donors; collaborates with the Individual Giving team on shared relationships.
- Initiates and leads site visits, funder briefings, presentations, and other donor education opportunities for corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
Corporate Engagement
- Collaborates with the Director to build out and expand Tipping Point's corporate engagement touchpoints, including volunteer experiences, Lunch + Learns, employee giving and matching, and other activations.
- Manages the corporate experience around Tipping Point's annual Benefit, including the sponsorship solicitation, cocktail hour activation, and collateral.
- Builds a stronger, sustained engagement model with corporate partners throughout the year to support increasing Benefit table levels (e.g., from $25K to $50K) and deepening long-term relationships.
- Tracks how corporate touchpoints convert into individual donors, volunteers, Board & Leader ship Council matches, and pipeline; reports on engagement metrics and iterates on the model.
Collaboration + Project Management
- Develops persuasive proposals, strategies, narratives, and language for programs and initiatives by effectively utilizing existing materials and collaborating with senior Development and Program staff to gather key information and translate programmatic work for donor audiences.
- Builds and maintains the internal toolkit for corporate stewardship and gift leveling, and develops impact messaging that clearly connects giving levels (e.g., $25K vs. $100K) to what Tipping Point delivers, in partnership with the Communications team.
- Creates, solicits and implements corporate sponsorship plans for all relevant Tipping Point events, partnering with the Communication + Events team to create needed materials.
Grants Management
- Writes foundation and corporate LOIs, grant proposals and reports, within all specified timelines; tracks grant deliverables, organizes program team input on reports and proposals, and creates budgets in coordination with Institutional Giving Director, program, and finance staff.
- Proactively and efficiently manages the timeline of annual solicitations, ensuring that asks are made in a timely fashion to secure funding yearly.

Qualifications

Additionally, the Institutional Giving Manager must have:
- Relevant fundraising experience, with a proven ability to secure five and six-figure gifts from foundation and corporate donors.
- Exceptional writing skills and ability to efficiently create funding narratives in a fast-paced environment; ability to synthesize complex activities and data into coherent and compelling narratives.
- Demonstrated ability to build strategy and infrastructure independently, comfortable standing up new systems, relationships, and processes from scratch rather than executing within an existing structure.
- Credibility and confidence engaging senior leaders, including C-suite executives, founders, and investors, at prospective and current corporate partners.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignments when faced with many deadlines and competing requirements.
- Strong detail orientation.
- Outstanding partnership development, customer service, and relationship management skills.
- Results-orientation and ability to tackle complex problems through entrepreneurial approach and creative problem-solving.
- Track record of being able to work effectively across different groups of people, and an ability to act as a strong team player.
- Commitment to Tipping Point’s mission and values and ability to operate with the highest degree of integrity in representing the organization.
- Public speaking experience preferred.
Salary + Classification
Tipping Point is committed to paying competitive wages. In an effort to increase equity, because we know that salary negotiations tend to have an unfair bias, we do not participate in a salary negotiation process for any candidate. We will make our best offer, and it will be the same regardless of the candidate. The annual salary for the Institutional Giving Manager role is $127,836. This position meets the exemption requirements as defined by state and federal law. Exempt employees are paid on a salaried basis, and their salary is intended to constitute their entire regular compensation, regardless of the number of hours they work; therefore, exempt employees are not eligible for overtime pay.
Hybrid Work Environment
At Tipping Point, we believe that in-person connection is essential to fostering strong collaboration, creativity, and community. To support this, staff are expected to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday. Some roles may require community meetings, which can be scheduled during these in-person days. On Mondays and Fridays, staff may choose to work remotely or from the office, depending on their preference. Our office remains open five days a week to encourage face-to-face collaboration and to provide a welcoming space for those who thrive working onsite. We also extend the use of our office to our grantee partners as a shared space for meetings and connection. Tipping Point will periodically assess this hybrid work model and may adjust it as needed to best serve our mission and team.
