Tax Manager – Real Estate
***This position is slated to start Q2 of 2026***
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina; Durham, North Carolina; Wilmington, North Carolina – Hybrid work model available (candidates must be able to work onsite at a TJT office at least three days per week)
About the Position:
TJT is actively seeking a dynamic Tax Manager to drive our thriving real estate practice forward. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee and review tax matters for a diverse range of real estate clients—including multifamily properties, land development ventures, and both commercial and residential construction projects.
You’ll play a key role in mentoring TJT’s tax professionals and building lasting, trusted relationships with our clients. Expertise in partnership taxation is essential, with a strong command of like kind exchanges, special allocations, lot cost allocations, and step ups required.

Essential Functions:
- Lead the review of tax returns for real estate clients, including Form 1065 and Form 1120-S
- Manage client engagements from inception to completion, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards
- Establish and cultivate meaningful relationships with clients and firm leadership, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor
- Develop in-depth knowledge of client businesses, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and consistently meet client deadlines
- Stay ahead of evolving tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards—apply this knowledge proactively to benefit client engagements
- Collaborate closely with TJT’s tax team to share expertise, coordinate strategies, and deliver seamless service
- Consistently provide timely, high-quality deliverables that exceed client expectations
- Expand your technical expertise by staying current on industry trends, developments, and authoritative guidance, applying it to complex scenarios
Professional Requisites:
- Minimum of 5 years of real estate tax experience within the public accounting industry
- Advanced skills in preparing and reviewing partnership tax returns
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; master’s degree in accounting is preferred
- Active CPA certification strongly preferred
- Prior experience in public accounting required
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills
