Senior Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Lead, Compute
Senior Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Lead, Compute
Location:
San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)
Role: As the first Compute Sourcing & Procurement Lead at a pioneering AI infrastructure company, you will own the backbone of our supplier and vendor strategy: securing GPUs, servers, and datacenter resources to power cutting-edge AI research and products. You’ll focus on the unique challenges of AI-scale datacenters and high-performance computing (HPC) environments, where power, networking, and cooling requirements differ from traditional cloud infrastructure. Your role is critical in ensuring Together AI has the right capacity at the right cost, with commercial terms that maximize flexibility and scale. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of AI infrastructure supply, negotiating directly with the world’s top hardware and datacenter vendors, driving repeatable procurement processes, and building the market intelligence engine that informs billion-dollar decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead sourcing and procurement of AI and HPC infrastructure (GPUs, servers, storage, racks, networking) and datacenter services, negotiating pricing, terms, and SLAs with OEMs, colos, and component suppliers
- Develop and maintain a rolling AI compute market intelligence program (colo rates, vendor scorecards, competitive benchmarks) to inform purchasing and allocation strategy
- Lead the full procure-to-pay lifecycle (PR→PO→delivery→acceptance), including end-to-end RFP and vendor selection processes to ensure commercial, technical, and operational alignment for AI datacenter builds
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Strategic Finance (own vs. lease modeling, budget guardrails), Legal (contracts, SLA language), GTM/RevOps (competitor pricing intel), and Infrastructure Engineering (rack density, power envelope, and deployment readiness)
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement operations, including automation of PO tracking, delivery dashboards, and supplier performance metrics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field
- 4–6 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management within AI infrastructure, high-performance computing (HPC), semiconductors, or hyperscale datacenter hardware
- Strong understanding of AI datacenter design fundamentals: rack density, liquid cooling, interconnects, and power envelopes
- Familiarity with GPU supply ecosystems and roadmaps (e.g., NVIDIA H100/H200/B200/GB200/GB300, AMD MI300X/MI355X) across OEMs, contract manufacturers, and datacenter partners
- Proven experience running end-to-end procurement processes, including RFPs, purchase orders, invoicing, compliance, and vendor management
- Skilled negotiator with experience closing HPC or AI datacenter contracts with OEMs, colocation providers, or hyperscalers
- Ability to synthesize compute market data into actionable price benchmarks, forecasts, and sourcing strategies
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple complex, time-sensitive sourcing initiatives in parallel
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with procurement tools and supplier management systems
- Background in category management and vendor risk analysis for AI or datacenter infrastructure
- Prior experience at a hyperscaler, OEM, or AI infrastructure provider negotiating large-scale GPU or datacenter supply agreements
- Understanding of global semiconductor supply chains and datacenter market dynamics
