Head of Business Operations (Cluster Centre)

London, England, United Kingdom

At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious mission: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.

More than 1/3 of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet. 10% of greenhouse gas emissions come from food waste and loss.

Through our marketplace app, we connect businesses that have unsold, surplus food, with consumers who can buy and enjoy it at ⅓ of retail value. We are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste. Alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.

We’re growing fast: Our community of 111 million registered users and 244,000 active partners across 19 countries, have together already saved 439 million meals from going to waste - avoiding almost 1.186,000 tonnes of CO2e!

Too Good To Go was named in FastCompany’s March 2022 list of the World's Most Innovative Companies, and was honoured to be included in TIME’s list of the 100 Most Influential Companies of 2022.

We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Business Operations to manage marketplace health across a portfolio of countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Czechia, the UK and Ireland, down to the hyperlocal level.

As Head of Business Operations, you will surface areas for improvement and work cross-functionally to develop and execute tactics and processes to drive performance. While you will report directly to the Associate Director of Strategy & Operations, you will be part of the Regional Leadership Team and work closely with your region’s Vice President of Operations.

The role:

  • Local Marketplace Performance: Monitor marketplace health at the national and city level; surface opportunities to improve the balance of supply and demand, and collaborate with relevant departments to drive the right actions (e.g., increasing supply availability and/or quality, increasing user volumes and/or purchase frequency) in the right geographies
  • Cross-Functional Projects: Manage high-priority cross-functional projects with strategic implications for the business; take accountability for project outcomes, ensure delivery on critical project metrics, and keep stakeholders informed of progress
  • Local Strategy: Develop, communicate, and operationalise strategies that help Too Good To Go achieve its goals at the country and/or regional level
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Synthesise quantitative and qualitative insights into concise, actionable recommendations that can be digested by leaders across the business; ensure analytical and operational rigour in our reporting and processes
  • Knowledge Sharing: Support knowledge and best practice sharing and implementation among local and global stakeholders; drive adoption of team knowledge base to ensure key processes are documented and shared across the organisation
  • Business Planning: Support the development of operating forecasts and long-term business plans by partnering cross-functionally to model performance, identify key drivers, and inform strategic decision-making

Working relationships:

  • Associate Director of Strategy & Operations: Direct manager overseeing the Business Operations function globally
  • Vice President of Operations, [Cluster North]: Dotted-line manager and key stakeholder with P&L ownership for the region
  • Regional Leadership Team: Cross-functional peer group made up of leaders across Sales, Growth, and Marketing
  • Fellow Heads of Business Operations: Peers in other regions; you will work together to share cross-country insights in an efficient and scalable way
  • Data Analytics Business Partner: Key collaborator on analytical and more technical requests within the region

We’re looking for:

  • Significant work experience with demonstrated success in high-performance cultures (whether in consulting, investment banking, or strategy or operations at a high-growth marketplace/technology company)
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex projects, owning revenue or growth goals, and working cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ownership mindset and proactive attitude to find and implement solutions for complex issues
  • Ability to build deep, trust-based relationships and collaborate with local and global stakeholders across departments
  • Inspiring, engaging, and motivating communicator – in person and online
  • Strong data retrieval, analytics, data visualisation, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to keep initiatives on track
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides
  • Experience with Salesforce (reports, dashboards), Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Looker), and SQL are a strong plus
  • You are based in (or willing to relocate to) London

Our values:

  • We Win Together
  • We Raise the Bar
  • We Keep It Simple
  • We Build A Legacy
  • We Care

What we have to offer:

  • A rare opportunity to work in a global social impact company (and certified B Corporation) where you get to wake up every day knowing you’re achieving positive change.
  • The experience of being part of an international company with more than 1350 enthusiastic and highly talented teammates across 19 countries and counting – always ready to share knowledge and support!
  • Strong personal as well as professional development in an intense and high-growth scale-up environment.
  • A possibility to be influential in a fairly new company with few predefined processes.
  • An open company culture where you have room for independence and creativity.
  • A strong team culture where successes are celebrated together.
