About the Role
We’re looking for a driven, tactical, and lightning-fast In-House Counsel to join our dynamic and growing U.S. team!
In this role, you’ll be the key to unlocking Topsort’s next stage of growth, building a strong and flexible legal foundation, and supporting complex negotiations with top retailers, marketplaces, and delivery apps across the U.S. and Canada.
Key Obligations
- Team Collaboration: Embrace Topsort’s “sports team” mentality, working closely with product, engineering, and sales teams across different regions to deepen sales knowledge, exchange insights, and secure deals.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Become an authority on the AdTech industry, Topsort’s products, and the retail media landscape, while staying up to date on evolving E-commerce regulations.
- Commercial & API Negotiations: Demonstrate strong judgment and relentless focus in handling commercial client negotiations and API agreements.
- Cross-Border Legal Affairs: Support international operations, managing cross-border contracts, export controls, tax compliance, and ensuring adherence to global regulatory requirements.
- Risk Management: Work with leadership to creatively evaluate, mitigate, and manage risk across internal and external stakeholders.
- Compliance & Contracting: Collaborate with operations, commercial, and finance teams to establish best practices for compliance and contracting.
Requirements
- Education & Licensing: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in the U.S.
- Legal Expertise: Strong skills in legal writing and commercial negotiation; expertise in MA or CA employment law is a plus.
- Startup Mindset: Ability to work hard, move fast, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Problem-Solver: A self-starter who finds the right answers before asking questions.
- Industry Curiosity: Eager to self-educate and become an expert in auction engines, retail media, and marketplace monetization.
- Team Player: Success at Topsort is about collaboration, not lone-wolf strategies.
- Work Setup: Onsite in Boston 4 days a week, with the ability to travel domestically and internationally for industry events and client meetings.
