Summary

The Fraud Lead - Credit Cards is responsible for ensuring the financial well-being of our users and the business as a whole by upholding Topstep’s safety and security. This position, along with the team that they manage is responsible for investigating fraud and suspicious activity concerning debit cards, credit cards, digital banking, payments, and electronic services. 

They will also be expected to detect potential fraud cases after researching internal and external fraud trends and reviewing Traders’ account activity.

The Fraud Lead - Credit Cards monitors suspicious transactions and fraudulent activities and resolves them. Working in conjunction with other Fraud Leads, the Lead may need to contact merchants and cardholders to verify charges and prevent loss. They are responsible for providing outstanding service for users and partners by using knowledge of company services and programs.  

Additionally, the position is responsible for assisting the Sr. Manager of Fraud with developing and implementing staffing, training, and scheduling.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of credit card fraud prevention specialists, ensuring high performance and professional development. 
  • Set team goals with the Senior Manager of Fraud and monitor performance metrics to achieve dispute resolution targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review processes, discuss challenges, and implement improvements. At the same time, bringing creative ideas to the table for process improvement, team development, and training.
  • Alongside the Senior Manager of Fraud, perform regular QA reviews of team member conversations to identify knowledge gaps and provide learning opportunities.
  • Oversee scheduled audits of credit card activity, compile a report on which accounts need to be restricted, and ensure leadership is informed promptly.
  • Proactively analyze financial and trader data to identify and report on trends while working with payment processor partners and internal Engineers on proactive solutions.
  • Work to maintain compliance with financial & security industry regulations and payment network guidelines.
  • Analyze payment trends to identify potential risks and recommend preventive measures. Work with Fraud Lead - Chargebacks to generate and present detailed reports to management on the volume of chargebacks related to credit card fraud.
  • Evaluate current Payment Processor and Credit Card vendor relationships and establish regular check-ins. Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to refine policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Fraud and all other involved teams to monitor and identify issues arising from continuous monitoring and formulate actionable plans on issues driving the team's performance.
  • Work cross-departmentally to provide proactive fraud monitoring and ensure all teams have the necessary resources to identify behavior that goes against Topstep Policy & Terms of Use.
  • Is responsible for the coordination of team schedules on a daily and monthly basis. Is also responsible for coordinating and communicating holiday and overtime coverage.

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, fraud analysis, compliance
  • Experience with Fiserv, BluePay, Stripe, Nuvei, or similar
  • Previous experience as a Lead and/or managing people

Preferred Skills    

  • Experience with Industry Fraud tools (ie AML, SAS)
  • Experience with KYC tools like Veriff or similar
  • Experience with Quality Assurance reviews

New Hire Base Salary Range

  • $90,000-$100,000.
  • Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
  • The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
