Payroll Accountant
Summary
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees, and related reporting and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves reconciling payroll data, managing payroll-related reporting and tax compliance, and assisting with audits and month-end close activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for multi-state employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure appropriate documentation is filed and retained.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and general ledger accounts.
- Manage and reconcile payroll tax filings and ensure timely submissions.
- Assist with audits, including internal, external, and governmental (e.g., IRS, DOL).
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and assist the People team in answering employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and taxes.
- Support benefits administration related to payroll, such as 401(k) and insurance deductions.
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with People and Finance teams for seamless data integration and reporting.
Required Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–5 years of payroll accounting experience; multi-state payroll experience required.
- Strong understanding of payroll and tax laws.
- Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Workday, UKG), Excel, and NetSuite.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

New Hire Base Salary Range
- $60,000-$80,000
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
- The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
