Meet The Team:
As a Distinguished Engineer, you’ll provide technical direction and strategy for the architecture and systems that enable autonomous trucks to safely and reliably operate at scale. As a VP-level individual contributor, you’ll be a trusted advisor to our CTO and senior engineering leadership, setting the direction for some of the most technically challenging and transformative initiatives in the company. This is a unique opportunity to influence architecture, systems thinking, and product roadmaps across all of Engineering.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-impact environments, balances visionary thinking with technical pragmatism, and has a passion for scalable, safe, and elegant engineering solutions in autonomy.
What You’ll Do:
- Define and influence technical and product roadmaps across autonomous software and hardware domains
- Set the architectural vision for scalable, cross-functional engineering systems
- Provide deep technical expertise in real-time systems, system integration, and software/hardware interoperability
- Drive decision-making on key technical tradeoffs and maintain a sense of urgency around delivery
- Champion engineering excellence, mentoring the next generation of senior ICs and technical leaders
- Establish and lead communities of practice across engineering domains
- Represent the voice of developers and advocate for improved development experience and platform efficiency
- Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to influence technology direction and integration
- Participate in high-level design reviews and serve as a trusted technical advisor across the organization
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- 15+ years of engineering experience, ideally in robotics, automotive, or complex software/hardware systems
- Masters or PhD degree in CS, EE, Robotics, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in technical leadership roles across large-scale engineering organizations
- Expertise in C++, real-time systems, Linux, GPU programming, networking, and virtualization
- Deep understanding of systems architecture, verification and validation at scale, and safety-critical software
- Exceptional communication and technical storytelling skills for cross-functional influence
- Ability to drive alignment between engineering execution and broader business strategy
- Collaborative mindset with a strong mentoring instinct and bias for action

US Pay Range
$272,700 - $327,200 USD
