Senior Test Engineer

 JOB DESCRIPTION: Validate truck autonomy with real-life traffics scenarios, analyzing vehicle performance and data acquisition and analysis, and reporting to stakeholders across three different sites: Blacksburg, Texas and Ann Arbor. Support real- world testing of TORC’s automated vehicles and provide feedback to the development team. Execute test plans to uncover the limitations of TORC’s systems, collecting relevant data in order to drive improvements. Understand test gaps and deploy supplementary instrumentation and infrastructure required in order to capture data as defined by the test plans. Perform analysis of test data, generating reports to communicate performance issues and capability improvements over time. Maintain a verification and validation report showing current performance of the vehicle level system against system requirements. Work closely with mechanical, electrical, hardware, and software component teams in order to generate quantifiable performance metrics and implement vehicle level tests for individual system components. Provide regular reports to software component and system design teams, consolidating test event results and generating detailed defect reports with supporting logs. Document best practices and provide training to test engineers. Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. 3 years of experience in job offered or other closely related position in software or test engineering. Must have experience with: developing test plans to fully verify and validate the requirements, operational design domain (ODD), and design documentation for autonomous vehicle system, sub-systems and features; performing vehicle level testing, validation and verification by on-road testing; new vehicle platform performance evaluation and continuous platform commissioning, planning and strategizing such as AEB and release test suite after reviewing system level requirements; reviewing test results and issues, to help with the root cause analysis and troubleshooting of the systems with the appropriate stakeholders; quantitative and qualitative vehicle test performance evaluation integrating with vehicle target platforms such as AB Dynamics systems such as launchpad, GST; tools such as Linux OS, JIRA, Confluence, Github for issue/ bug test management, test scenario planning and management, vehicle development planning and other tasks; and simulation testing to get early evaluation of system capability performance. Alternative Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. 5 years of experience in job offered or other closely related position in software or test engineering. Location: Based out of our U.S. headquarters at 405 Partnership Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24060. However, this is a purely telecommuting/work-from-home position whereby the employee may reside anywhere within the U.S. Note, this position requires domestic travel, as needed, up to 50% per year.
