Meet the Team:
As a Tax Manager, you’ll join a high-performing Finance & Accounting team at the center of our financial stewardship—collaborating to deliver accurate reporting, strategic insights, and compliant operations that support the company’s growth.
What You'll Do:
Lead Torc’s tax compliance through the management of tax service providers and the review of deliverables for accuracy and consistency with the business operations. Responsible for federal, state, and local income taxes, sales & use taxes, employment tax returns, and tax accounting. Lead the implementation of tax processes and reporting for Torc Robotics, Inc. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Tax Compliance (65%)
- Generally, oversee service providers in the preparation of various tax returns and in relation to tax planning assistance
- Gather data and communicate tax sensitive activities to service providers
- Review and provide oversight for quarterly and annual employment tax returns
- Management of the preparation of quarterly tax projections, with outside support, and communication of required estimated tax payments
- Review tax correspondence and facilitate and oversee tax examinations and notices
- Review federal and state and local income tax returns
- Review other tax returns (e.g., sales and use) as needed
- Support compliance and planning for tax matters
- Coordinate with other business areas (e.g., human resources, legal, treasury) to understand changes to the business and modify tax compliance and reporting as required
- Ensure accurate calculation of Forms 1099/1042 and assist in distribution
- Provide guidance to human resources on questions related to payroll tax matters
- Provide guidance on R&D Credits and Transfer Pricing
- Follows standard work processes and the Internal Controls System and assists in testing or self-assessments (as assigned) as part of the internal control process.
- Tax Accounting (25%)
- Oversee service providers in the preparation of tax accounting workpapers and prepare tax disclosures upon the direction of positions, estimates, and judgement from Management
- Ensure financial and tax reporting policies and procedures are compliant
- Review preparation of monthly tax accounting workpapers
- Prepare/Review tax journal entries
- Coordinate with other business areas (e.g., human resources, legal, treasury) to understand changes to the business and modify tax accounting and reporting as required
- Review tax amounts and footnotes in relation to quarterly financial statements
- Support quality control review for all financial statements
- Manage required internal controls for the tax function
- Vendor Management (10%)
- Develop and maintain strong relationship with Tax firms and other tax related vendors
- Develop performance metrics and hold tax related vendors accountable
- Lead the identification and vetting of new or replacement tax vendor
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- 5+ years of experience in tax compliance and accounting.
- 2+ years of people leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Tax or relevant field of study from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting principles and applicable federal and state direct and indirect tax laws.
- Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize, delegate, and handle multiple tasks with a global team in a fast- paced environment.
- Ability to create the enterprise tax function, including creating tax processes, selecting software, developing internal controls, produce regulatory and financial reporting for income taxes, while leveraging digital tools and supporting providers
- Strong time management and organizational skills to plan, develop, coordinate resources, prioritize effectively, and maintain competing demands simultaneously with frequent interruptions and in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with software such as MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Ability to ethically handle sensitive and confidential information with impartiality and professionalism.

- Experience with working with High Growth or Technology companies, and/or companies that have recently IPO'ed is strongly preferred.
