Agentic Systems Engineer

Durham, NC

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking an Agentic Systems Engineer to help bridge the gap between AI-generated code and production-ready autonomous systems. You will play a critical role in reviewing, refining, and integrating agent-generated outputs into scalable, safe systems. This position is ideal for engineers eager to grow in the emerging field of AI autonomy while developing strong fundamentals in backend development, tooling, and cloud infrastructure.

Engineer contributes directly to agent feedback loops, improves AI-driven workflows, and ensures features safely reach production. You will work alongside senior engineers to enhance agent capabilities, debug complex interactions, and strengthen the reliability of AI-driven processes.

Key Outputs & Outcomes:

  • Feature Implementation: Develop new modules or tool integrations to expand the agentic AI platform. For example, build Git/issue tracking interfaces for AI agents or extend the sandbox environment with additional libraries.
  • Workflow Improvement: Collaborate with senior engineers to improve agent generation, validation, and deployment processes. Contribute to prompt design, agent tooling, and system integration refinements.
  • System Testing & Optimization: Run end-to-end tests of AI pipelines after feature updates, measure performance, and implement optimizations. Add monitoring hooks or task success metrics to agent workflows.
  • Troubleshooting & Debugging: Diagnose and fix issues in LLM agent systems. Investigate failed agent deployments, debug runtime anomalies, and fix bugs of moderate complexity.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear documentation for new features and system improvements. Share findings on new tools, libraries, or debugging efforts with the team to foster collective growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement production-quality backend code (NodeJS, Java, Typescript) following best practices for modularity, testing, and maintainability.
  • Review AI-generated code outputs, refine structure and safety, and integrate validated outputs into production workflows.
  • Enhance agent validation pipelines, sandbox execution environments, and integration tooling.
  • Support continuous improvement of agent task monitoring, logging, and success/failure detection.
  • Debug system behaviors using logs, runtime environments, and monitoring tools.
  • Assist with CI/CD processes (e.g., Docker builds, GitHub Actions pipelines) and basic cloud service deployments.
  • Learn and contribute to secure coding practices, ensuring AI-driven systems handle sensitive data correctly.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in backend or systems development.
  • Strong programming skills in NodeJS and familiarity with strongly typed languages (Java, Typescript).
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and modular system design.
  • Experience building or maintaining backend systems or developer tooling.
  • Basic working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, including Dockerfile creation and understanding deployment workflows.
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hands-on use of cloud services.
  • Strong familiarity with version control workflows (Git branching, pull requests).
  • Proven debugging and troubleshooting ability using logs, debuggers, and monitoring tools.

Preferred Skills & Tools:

  • Familiarity with LLM integration (e.g., calling APIs, using Hugging Face or LangChain frameworks).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and basic Kubernetes exposure.
  • Monitoring/logging experience with tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK stack.
  • Awareness of basic security practices around credentials, API keys, and sensitive data handling.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
