What will you bring to the team.
Toshiba is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager who will be responsible for leading a department of direct reports that will include 9-12 software developers.
Responsibilities will include guiding and supporting the team throughout the development and successful deployment of new product releases, optimizing development processes and team efficiencies, challenging the team technically and participating in scrum and code reviews, managing capacity and personnel matters plus effectively growing technical skills and evaluating performance with data.
This position requires proven knowledge of software development processes, previous software development (writing code in Java) experience and extensive people management experience to carry out the responsibilities for project activities across a broad, cross-functional, geographically diverse team.
What will you be doing:
- Delivery of high-quality product releases and functionality.
- Managing the performance of the development team ensuring product commitments are met.
- Provide clear prioritization of objectives, timely and appropriate communication, and continuous demonstration of ownership and accountability
- Create a highly collaborative, productive and efficient work environment
- Collaborate closely with product owners
- Enabling the development and support of an innovative product.
- Promote continuous process improvement. Ensuring Agile/SAFe practices are applied and followed.
- Driving the team through scrum participation.
- Reviewing the code to ensure proper coding practices are followed.
Naturally to be successful in this role, you must have and know of:
- BS or Master’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
- Full understanding of the software development lifecycle and bring a product to production.
- 8-10 years of Java software development projects experience.
- Knowledge of software development concepts/methodology/life cycle, especially Agile, preferable with SAFe.
- Experience in managing software development teams and projects in Agile methodologies.
- People management experience including performance management, motivation, career development and dealing with conflict.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluent in English.
- Good analytic and logical problem-solving skills.
- Strong collaborative and teaming skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers.
- Ability to demonstrate code review capabilities.
Preferred skills:
- SAFe experience.
- Understanding of Test Automation and Test-Driven Development.
