What will you bring to the team.

The Sr. Test Engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership and assisting with establishing strategic direction for our testing organization.  The candidate will bring strong knowledge of test principles, tools, automation, and processes to design and implement solutions to drive quality across all solution products. The ideal candidate will excel in our fast-paced, collaborative, customer-first environment and will contribute in a variety of ways. Though this person is not responsible for creating the automation frameworks, this person will need to have sufficient programming skills to use the automation frameworks established by the various projects and can act as the Project Owner to drive additional enhancements to the framework. This technical depth translates to being able to read basic programming files and to be able to use function calls established by the test framework.

What will you be doing:

  • Focus on long-term improvement of the team’s testing processes and growth while developing paths for solving shortcomings over a long period (proactive versus reactive). Work closely with Test Managers to drive quality across all Test teams by providing guidance, feedback, and suggestions for improving quality practices across the entire professional services team. With in-depth knowledge of a variety of testing techniques, industry standard tools, and quality initiatives, work closely with Test Managers to implement quality improvement changes.
  • Stay up to speed on industry process, practice and technology developments to ensure they are brought in-house to enhance the solutions applied to Test. Develop and maintain metrics to monitor the effectiveness of testing and to demonstrate measurable improvements through insights gained via data analysis at all stages of the SDLC. Identify testing gaps that the organization faces and advise on implementation plans to improve processes.
  • Monitor, optimize, mentor, collaborate, and continually improve the test team on behalf of the Test Managers and the Development team.
  • Direct and coordinate the implementation of test automation and provide guidance on the selection of the most effective automation design techniques for all applications. Assist in the design and development of test automation frameworks, harnesses, and code libraries to enable the team to both use and enhance them across product solutions.
  • Communicate and interact with clients to help define testing or quality gaps and drive implementation of initiates to address identified gaps.

Naturally to be successful in this role, you must have and know of:

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ Years’ of experience in full software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control and testing
  • Experience in analyzing, designing, implementing and troubleshooting software solutions for highly transactional systems.
  • Hands-on testing background
  • Experience in Test Automation
  • Experience with Agile development methodology.
  • HW knowledge & configuration
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems (command line, internals, and build process)
  • Meeting and adhering to programming standards and practices throughout SDLC.
  • Able to follow established guidelines and procedures, and meet deadlines
  • Leadership skills
  • Able to learn not standard technologies
