AI-Native Product Engineer

Durham, NC

Build the Future of Enterprise Retail Software

At Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, we're redefining how enterprise software is built. We're looking for a Principal AI-Native Product Engineer who combines deep software engineering expertise with modern AI-assisted development practices to build production-ready software faster—without compromising architectural integrity.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who thrives on solving complex technical problems, owns delivery from concept to production, and sees AI as a force multiplier rather than a replacement for engineering judgment.

You'll help shape the architecture, standards, and engineering practices behind one of the world's leading retail commerce platforms.

What You'll Do

You'll own products from idea through production, including architecture, implementation, testing, observability, deployment, and continuous improvement.

You'll:

  • Design scalable, AI-friendly software architectures using SOLID principles and clean architecture
  • Build enterprise applications across frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, and cloud services
  • Leverage AI-native development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Codex to accelerate delivery
  • Define contract-first APIs using OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, and strongly typed schemas
  • Ensure software is testable, observable, secure, and production-ready from day one
  • Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure maintainability, security, and architectural quality
  • Build reusable engineering assets including prompts, AI skills, automation, and developer tooling
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to rapidly deliver customer value

AI-Native Engineering

We believe AI changes how software is built—but not what great engineering looks like.

You'll work with multiple AI agents simultaneously to:

  • accelerate implementation
  • generate tests
  • improve documentation
  • automate code reviews
  • streamline releases
  • increase engineering throughput

Your role is to ensure AI accelerates development without sacrificing software quality, architecture, or long-term maintainability.

What Success Looks Like

Successful engineers in this role:

  • Deliver production-ready features in days rather than months
  • Build architectures that become stronger over time
  • Ship multiple concurrent initiatives without increasing technical debt
  • Create reusable engineering assets that improve team productivity
  • Produce software that is secure, observable, testable, and scalable
  • Improve engineering velocity while maintaining high quality standards

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Deep expertise in clean architecture and SOLID design principles
  • Strong full-stack engineering experience
  • Experience designing distributed enterprise applications
  • Experience with contract-first API development
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, or similar)
  • Experience building automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong understanding of observability, telemetry, and production operations
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ownership of software from design through production support

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

  • AI agent orchestration
  • MCP servers
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Prompt engineering
  • OpenAPI / AsyncAPI
  • Cloud-native architectures
  • Microservices
  • Event-driven systems
  • Retail commerce, POS, payments, or edge computing platforms
  • Staff or Principal engineering leadership

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
