
Facilities Maintenance Technician I - Housing
The Town of Snowmass Village is looking to hire a Facilities Technician I to join our Housing Department!
This is an in-person position
$1,000 sign-on bonus available!
We are looking a Facilities Maintenance Technician that will perform manual skilled and semi skilled work and limited lead work involving employee housing building operations and property maintenance. This position is responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior of the apartment buildings in all complexes, leads part-time assistants and participates in keeping the adjacent grounds, parking lots and equipment in an orderly condition.
Some of the day-to-day duties are listed below:
- Responds to tenant work requests in individual apartments.
- Performs repairs to electrical fixtures, light fixtures, switches and receptacles.
- Repairs appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers and disposals.
- Installs new appliances and disposes of old appliances.
- Performs plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, toilets, repairs water lines and cleans sewer lines.
- Maintains heat tapes, gutters, and repairs roofs to stop leaks.
- Performs repairs to building heating systems and individual apartment heaters.
- Maintains exterior lighting for buildings and parking lots.
- Performs interior and exterior painting, drywall installation, drywall repairs and texturing.
- Performs framing and finish carpentry, installs doors, windows and trim.
- Performs apartment maintenance and cleaning as required when apartments turn over.
- Maintains and cleans laundry rooms, and all building common areas.
- Requisitions maintenance and janitorial supplies and maintains supply inventories.
- Performs preventative maintenance as assigned, maintains small engines and power equipment.

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications/skills:
- General knowledge of carpentry, painting, minor electrical, heating, plumbing and applicable repair work.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and building equipment.
- Knowledge of the hazards involved, and safety precautions needed in custodial and building mechanical maintenance work.
- Ability to perform moderately heavy manual tasks requiring the full range of body movements.
- Ability to organize, assign, and lead the work of seasonal workers.
- Ability to maintain simple records and prepare reports.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with tenants, other town departments, contractors and the general public.
