
Facilities Maintenance Engineer I - Public Works
The Town of Snowmass Village is looking to hire a Facilities Engineer I to join our Facilities Division in the Public Works Department!
This is an in-person position
$1,000 sign-on bonus available!
We are looking for a Facilities Maintenance Engineer that will perform a variety of building maintenance and repairs.
Some of the day-to-day duties are listed below:
- Provides facility maintenance service to all Town owned facilities through specific requests, equipment examination and scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Performs demand and preventative maintenance and repairs on natural gas fired boilers and heating systems, snowmelt systems; HVAC, air conditioning and air handling equipment; various types of pipes, plumbing, and high voltage and low voltage electrical systems as well as various types of Building Automation controls.
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner with attention to detail of the entire system being serviced noting any additional defects to be handled in a timely manner as well to minimize the impact on the specific operation of each facility.
- Works in conjunction with Recreation Center staff to ensure proper operation of building mechanical and HVAC systems as well as pool systems.
- Works on high voltage motors and devices as well as low pressure gas fired boilers and variable speed high volume air handlers and blowers.
- Experience in the proper and safe maintenance of refrigeration and cooling systems including commercial AC, heat pumps and commercial and residential appliances.
- Returns to duty, “on call,” when urgent or emergency situations arise, as required.
- Performs welding and steel work for town facilities as required.
- Performs gas line diagnostics and repairs.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of individuals. Works with all Town departments, various vendors, contractors and general public.
- Repairs appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, disposals, hot water heaters, washer and dryers.
- Uses maintenance management software to input and track historical maintenance logs for future reference. Utilizes existing maintenance entries and other existing facility documents to analyze, diagnose and repair facility maintenance issues.
- Reads and understands blueprints, ladder diagrams and similar references and documents.
- Assist all departments in executing plans and projects for improvements, as well as monitor building systems, correct defective and inefficient operations through remedial maintenance and on time response during emergencies.
- Communicates effectively; good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Maintains a courteous and helpful manner in dealing with tenants and the public.
- Follows direction, multi-tasks, is flexible and works effectively in a team environment.

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications/skills:
- Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to drive vehicles
- Possession of appropriate tools to complete required tasks and knowledge and experience to use them
- Ability to attain certifications for CPO and BOMI or IFMA certifications.
- Any combination of experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school and a minimum three years experience in building, mechanical, electrical and HVAC maintenance.
- A general all around repair technician who possesses a knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and boiler operations, carpentry, welding, electrical, overhead doors, pool systems including pumps, chlorine generation systems, ozone generation systems and associated controls, lighting controls, elaborate building mechanical controls and systems, and applicable repair work;
- Knowledge of the hazards involved and safety precautions needed in building maintenance work;
- Ability to arrive at logical conclusions in emergency situations;
- Ability to perform moderately heavy manual tasks requiring the full range of body movements;
- Ability to maintain routine records and prepare reports;
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with building user and groups;
- Ability to develop, plan, and carry out elaborate solutions when appropriate; computer experience necessary to track work orders, scheduling and track BAS programs
- Exhibits high levels of technical competence in maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, state and federal safety regulations and controls
- Proficient in dealing with vendors and contractors in the installation, upgrade or maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.
