About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal AWS Cloud Architect with a proven track record in managing large-scale migrations to AWS, and a strong background in security and networking. As a Principal AWS Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining scalable and secure AWS environments for our customers, leveraging best practices and advanced AWS services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ownership of proposed solutions and exhibit accountability and leadership skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and execute migration projects, ensuring seamless transitions from on-premises or other cloud platforms to AWS.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and design AWS solutions that align with their needs.
  • Own the proposed solutions, ensuring that implementation meets customer requirements and addresses any issues or challenges that arise.
  • Develop and enforce security best practices and guidelines for AWS environments, ensuring data protection and compliance with industry standards.
  • Design and implement robust networking solutions within AWS, including VPC configuration, VPN setup, and network security.
  • Provide technical leadership, demonstrating accountability and mentoring a team of cloud architects and engineers.
  • Stay updated with the latest AWS services and technologies, and evaluate their applicability to clients' needs.
  • Conduct architectural reviews of AWS environments and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Create and own detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational manuals.

Qualifications & Interests:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years dedicated to AWS cloud architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale migrations to AWS.
  • Expertise in AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, and CloudFormation.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS security services and best practices (e.g., IAM, KMS, CloudTrail).
  • Proficiency in networking concepts, including VPC, subnetting, route tables, and VPNs.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients and team members effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Knowledge of other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
  • Agile project management experience.

Leadership and Accountability:

  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for the success of AWS solutions.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage expectations.
Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

Estimated Pay Range

$225,000 - $250,000 USD
