About the job:

Under the general direction of the Data Center Lead, the Associate Data Center Technician will physically support and provide remote hands-on services for customers and facilitate customer access. 

 

What you'll do:

 

Data Center Infrastructure & Cabling – 30%

  • Support day-to-day data center operations and assist with small-scale projects under senior supervision.

  • Install and relocate shelves, power strips, rails, cable management systems, servers, switches, and related equipment as needed.

  • Install, terminate, test, and label all copper and fiber cross-connects in accordance with Trace3 best practices.

  • Properly dress and label cables for ease of identification and troubleshooting; recommend improvements as needed.

  • Diagnose and resolve physical infrastructure issues with minimal supervision.

Compute/Network/Storage support – 30%

  • Conduct visual inspections of hardware for error indicators or abnormal noises, following training and direction.

  • Assist in performing infrastructure readiness and hardware validation tests.

  • Create and maintain service desk documentation.

  • Adhere to Trace3 best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Asset Management – 20%

  • Maintain accurate records of all equipment locations and cable connections in customer-defined asset management systems.

  • Perform inventory control; verify shipments against packing slips and report discrepancies.

  • Digitally scan and transmit all relevant paperwork to the client and proactively recommend process improvements.

  • Record all received equipment, including asset tags, manufacturer, model, and serial number.

  • Track customer-defined spare parts in an inventory-controlled environment and suggest improvements.

  • Conduct power tests on incoming hardware prior to deployment to the data center floor.

General Operations & Support - 20%

  • Deliver a high level of customer service and satisfaction.

  • Complete assigned tasks as directed by senior team members and offer suggestions for process improvement.

  • Review and follow work orders proactively and perform post-task quality assurance.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and report all issues to the client.

  • Update and manage tickets, time reports, and email communications per process guidelines.

  • Escort vendors and repair technicians as required.

  • Support crisis management efforts during critical incidents or major outages under senior guidance.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders in alignment with SLA expectations.

  • Contribute to root cause analysis efforts.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

 

 

Qualifications & Interest:

  • Desired 1 year experience computer and technical education OR previous experience in a technical or data center support role.
  • Ability to work independently once provided direction.
  • Willing to independently research Internet technologies (firewall/router/switch/VPN/DNS/Proxy).
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.

 

 

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

Estimated Pay Range

$24 - $32 USD
