Junior Android Developer

Vilnius, Lithuania

TransferGo is a growing fintech scale-up on a mission to make the world a fairer place for migrants. We strive to provide tailored, more affordable financial services that make people's hard-earned money go further. Now in our 13th year, with close to 400 employees in offices across Europe and the UK, we’re crafting a brilliant, relevant product that makes a difference in people's lives and the well-being of their families.

We’ve come this far by building a talented, diverse workforce on a fair culture and our strong values. Having this strong team of employees, we can serve those who really need our product to make their lives better.

About the Team: Our mission is to make every new user's first moments seamless and exciting. We own the registration flow and the journey to a customer’s first transaction — the “front door” to our product.

Why you’ll enjoy working with us:

  • Direct Impact: Your work will shape our most critical metrics: user growth and conversion.
  • Modern Stack: Kotlin-first development with Jetpack Compose and MVVM architecture.
  • AI-Driven Development: You’ll learn to leverage AI tools daily to build faster, smarter, and better.
  • High Visibility: The features you build will be seen by every new customer — and by our leadership team.

You’ll work closely with mid and senior developers, designers, product managers, and data analysts, learning first-hand how great products are built.

The Role: We’re hiring a Junior Android Developer to strengthen our team and bring fresh perspectives. You’ll start by getting up to speed with our codebase and AI-powered workflows, then quickly contribute to UI improvements, bug fixes, and new features.

What you’ll do

  • Utilise AI Development Tools: Heavily leverage AI tools from your first day to accelerate development, generate code, write tests more effectively.
  • Develop Features: Write and maintain clean, efficient Kotlin code to build new application features.
  • Implement UI: Translate UI/UX designs into functional, high-quality interfaces using Jetpack Compose.
  • Test & Debug: Identify, troubleshoot, and fix bugs and other issues, while also writing unit tests for your code.
  • Integrate APIs: Connect the app to backend services by implementing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Collaborate: Use Git for version control, and work with the team to improve the product.

What You’ll Bring

Must-haves:

  • Kotlin & Android Basics: You have foundational knowledge of Kotlin and core Android concepts from personal projects or coursework. You don't need to be an expert, but you should understand the fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Jetpack Compose: You have been introduced to Jetpack Compose and understand the basic idea of building UI with composable functions.
  • Essential Tools: You know how to use Git for version control and are comfortable finding your way around Android Studio.
  • AI-Driven Eagerness to Learn: Most importantly, you have a strong desire to learn. This includes a specific curiosity for mastering AI development tools, seeing them as essential for accelerating your growth and becoming a highly effective Android developer.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with modularisation.
  • JetpackCompose.

You are:

  • Curious and eager to learn.
  • Proactive and able to find solutions independently.
  • Collaborative and open to feedback.
  • User-focused, with empathy for creating seamless experiences.
  • Resilient, humble, and growth-oriented.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary: Starting from €2500 - €3750 (gross) per month, depending on experience
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Including a generous holiday allowance, competitive healthcare insurance, and a wellbeing package from day one
  • Annual Development Budget: €1,000 to invest in your personal and professional growth
  • Hybrid Working Environment: Flexibility to work from home and in the office, with most team members in the office 2 days a week
  • Pet-Friendly Office: If you’re near one of our offices, bring your furry friend along!
  • Inclusive Culture: Regular in-person events, fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration
  • Empowerment and Ownership: We believe in empowering our people to take initiative and drive meaningful change
