Chief Financial Officer
TransferGo is a growing fintech scale-up on a mission to champion financial freedom with care. We strive to provide tailored, more affordable financial services that make people's hard-earned money go further. Now in our 14th year, with close to 400 employees in offices across Europe and the UK, we’re crafting a brilliant, relevant product that makes a difference in people's lives and the well-being of their families.
We’ve come this far by building a talented, diverse workforce on a fair culture and our strong values. Having this strong team of employees, we can serve those who really need our product to make their lives better.
The Opportunity
We believe the next chapter of finance will be written by leaders who don't just tolerate AI — they live it.
We're looking for a CFO who already weaves AI into how they think, plan, work, and even experiment in their personal life - someone who sees AI not as a project on a roadmap but as the default operating layer for every model, decision, and team they run.
Being a part of a senior management team, the CFO is responsible for strategic growth that also includes overseeing all key finance functions including accounting, FP&A, fundraising support, risk management, tax, transfer-pricing, administration, and treasury. In this role, you will be the AI-native architect of our finance function — redesigning traditional processes from first principles so that AI, automation, and real-time data become the default way we plan, report, forecast, and decide. You won't be asked to "add AI on top" of the existing setup, you'll be asked to rethink what a modern, AI-first finance function looks like at TransferGo — and to build it, hands-on, with your team.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure finance is a strategic partner to the business to accelerate growth and support the best decision making;
- Own financial business planning and forecasting process supporting TransferGo's growth strategy;
- Build and evolve the business's financial models — incorporating AI-driven predictive analytics for revenue, costs, and cash flow forecasts to increase accuracy and agility;
- Work with the CEO to ensure we have adequate funding for the business and its future plans, whilst working with advisors and finance providers and transforming the way in which TransferGo uses FP&A to direct its decision making;
- Build on good foundations for solid financial governance that would stand up to the most rigorous diligence;
- Teach other functions and leaders about finance, and help them learn how to make an effective, data- and AI-supported business case;
- Drive the Group of companies' financial planning, oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed;
- Manage the debt and equity planning, fundraising and capital structure;
- Perform risk management by analysing the Group of companies' liabilities, investments and cash burn;
- Lead the finance team in designing, implementing and continuously improving AI-augmented workflows — from automated reporting and reconciliation to AI-assisted FP&A, close, and devolved budget responsibility — and set the tone by using these tools personally, every day;
- Manage existing strategic investments by reviewing monthly and quarterly reports and statements from managers, participating in regular meetings and calls, and tracking the monthly performance of materially significant investments;
- Conduct due diligence and full analysis of select new business opportunities, and share recommendations with the CEO, Leadership team and Board of Directors;
- Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, regulators, etc. Cultivate relationships that result in sourcing new equity and debt capital opportunities;
- Prepare monthly Board and Shareholders financial and business reports and updates;
- Continuously scan for emerging AI models, agents, and tooling — and quickly experiment, stress-test, and bring the best of them into how the finance team operates.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will
- Contribute to the overall strategic purpose of TransferGo;
- Contribute to the identification and setting of strategic objectives to achieve this purpose;
- Support the successful transformation of culture throughout the business — including championing an AI-native, experiment-first mindset across teams;
- Be committed and dedicated to providing financial insight required in budgeting, business modelling and financing;
- Build TransferGo knowledge through data-driven, AI-enabled insights to better understand our clients, users, and market trends.
Main requirements
- You are already an AI enthusiast — you actively use AI tools in your day-to-day work and personal life, and you can articulate a clear, opinionated vision for what an AI-native finance function looks like;
- Strong leadership and communication skills to drive Strategic Finance Partnership in cross-functional teams;
- Ability to learn fast the areas where you don't have expertise, including a proactive, hands-on approach to adopting new fintech and AI tools — you try things before you're told to;
- Experience leading the financial department of fast-growing companies (Series B onwards), ideally within FinTech and/or financial regulated businesses;
- A minimum of a BS and a CPA, CFA, or CFO experience at Series C/B/D growth startups, or growth-stage VC investment experience;
- 5+ years' hands-on experience as CFO, preferably in a complex global holding structured organisation that has multiple affiliates and a track record of escalating knowledge of growth and profitability mechanisms;
- The ability to work in multicultural teams and an entrepreneurial flair — both crucial for success in this role;
- Experience involved in or running capital fundraising rounds;
- Ability to strategize and strong problem-solving skills.
