Operations Manager

Lead Operations for a Growing Leader in Trailer Leasing & Fleet Solutions

Transportation Equipment Network (TEN) is seeking a highly motivated Operations Manager to lead branch operations and ensure exceptional service delivery across our trailer leasing, rental, maintenance, and fleet support business.

As the Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily activities that keep our branch running efficiently, including trailer rentals and leasing, fleet maintenance coordination, yard operations, inventory management, customer service, DOT compliance, and employee development. This leadership role is critical to driving operational excellence, maximizing fleet utilization, and delivering a best-in-class customer experience.

What You'll Do

Operations & Fleet Management

  • Direct all day-to-day branch operations, including trailer rentals, leasing, inspections, maintenance scheduling, and yard management.
  • Coordinate trailer deliveries, pickups, and on-site movements to ensure efficient fleet utilization.
  • Manage trailer and equipment inventory to ensure accuracy, availability, and readiness for customer lease and rental needs.
  • Partner with Sales to optimize fleet utilization and support business growth opportunities.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound trailer inspections while ensuring quality and safety standards are consistently met.

Maintenance & Service Coordination

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding trailer rentals, leases, repairs, and maintenance services.
  • Coordinate trailer repairs and preventive maintenance with internal technicians and third-party vendors.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager to prioritize work orders and meet customer expectations for turnaround times.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed according to company and customer requirements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, train, and develop branch operations personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support employee growth.
  • Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
  • Support ongoing employee training and professional development initiatives.

Customer Service & Business Performance

  • Build strong customer relationships and serve as a key point of contact for operational support.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues quickly and professionally.
  • Promote operational efficiency while maintaining exceptional service levels.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Oversee the accurate completion of inspections, estimates, invoices, rental agreements, and lease documentation.
  • Manage departmental budgets, control operating expenses, and support branch profitability.

What We're Looking For

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop operations teams.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of trailer systems, fleet equipment, and mechanical operations.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations, transportation compliance, and safety requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Experience

 

  • Minimum of four (4) years of operations experience within the trailer, transportation, logistics, fleet management, trucking, or equipment rental industry.
  • Experience in trailer leasing, fleet services, transportation equipment, or related industries strongly preferred
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not required
